Hello Vanessa.. Yes my best time of the year is summer. So nice to get back to nature as it is intended. On my own and to look up and see a million+ Stars at night. Then in the early morning to wake and listen to the Dawn Chorus as the sun rises over the hills. Just relaxing after a day making shelters and cooking on open fires. Nothing like the smells of bacon and eggs cooking after re-lighting the fire with a nice hot drink of coffee or minted tea. Then go foraging for food for free as you say take little what you need and leave the rest to grow as it should be. To sit and enjoy the warm day and maybe do some wood carving of spoons forks and knives. Bless you Vanessa you bring back old memories to me by what your doing. As you know it is not easy for me at this moment in time.. Regards Mick.. From England... xx

I really like how you read all your comments, it feels nice and human. Assuming you do read them and not just put a heart! Years ago l built a structure supporting a large, heavy canvas tarp. I was a beginner and some of thr older crew said it needed more lashing, yet instead of doing the finishing touches, it was declared unsafe for sleeping because it was wobbly and needed stabilization. A few days later we had gale force 100kmph winds and down she came. The campers were very upset because the tarp had a large rip in it. I decided to never let that ever happen again and learnt from my mistakes. Years later at another protest camp called Bentley anti csg , l decided to put my mark on the protest before l left and put up one tarp/structure. Once again a few days later gale force winds came and blew everything down...except the tarp l put up. I returned a week later to find all these hippies huddled under this tarp as it had been the only shelter available during the storm. Two lessons from this story, one* if you see mistakes in a person's structure, fix them yourself rather than say l told you so. Two *build structures with overkill safety standards in case of natural disaster. Also a trick l use is to take the coals from a fire before bed, put them in a fry pan or metal container and place it near you when sleeping. Hot rocks wrapped in a t-shirt as a substitute hot water bottle nicely warms up my sleeping bag. Thank you for the video Ps l tried to purchase the backpack online but it would not allow me to type Australia into the address list, do you not import to Australia?

Thank you, Vanessa. When you chose your camping spot, I knew the sand might fail to keep and retain the sun's heat. However, I hoped the nearby stones would do that. Regardless, you had your little dog to help you stay warm, and the sun quickly warmed your camp after you stood up and began to work. You are a remarkable woman. I enjoy your adventures. When I was your age, I had many such adventures. Now, I am the age of your grandfather, so I don't like to sleep on the ground like I once did. I have a tarp made out of it which won’t burn holes from sparks of a fire. I love the way you build your shelters from natural materials even though it’s very much work. Simple partly unerground shelter and simple kebab-cooking in an quiet place go hand in hand perfect with this Easter weekend. Maybe this island is so called 15 minutes silent place, where you hear not any human made noises or sounds, no cars or airplane etcetera, in fifteen minutes, only sounds of nature?
