Hello mate, I'm presently in the north eastern United States. Back in England outdoor camping is restrictive, and then in Scotland there's hardly any trees. America and Canada are great places for outdoor adventure. I understand the the contrast between city Life and Wilderness life, for I experience it bi-monthly. I'm glad you're enjoying everything and I'm happy I can bring the gift of the wilderness vicariously to others. Cheers mate! PS message me on Instagram for full conversations

I love your kind of woods. Rocks, flowing water (besides the rain 😁), many hard wood trees, some grass, ... wow! (I know, I said this before 😉) ... and grinding the coffee beans with a stick - this is a great idea - I may try this the next time by myself. 👍🙂 How was the night in the hammock? Personally, I prefere sleeping in a hammock over sleeping on the ground. 💤
@TheLoreofBushcraft3 жыл бұрын
Hello Carsten, yes it's quite a lovely place. Personally, I love the rain, "especially if I'm having hammock camping," because I can lay back, read, watch a movie and just enjoy the stillness of the moment. Rainy days always mean relaxing and coziness with a nice cup of tea and a book. I prefer hammock Camping in the rain because it keeps you off the wet ground and with a 3X3 tarp you are protected. Yes, there are many ways to skin a cat, and of course many ways to make coffee. That method is a very convenient one. There is no comparison between fresh ground and previously ground. When you grind it on the spot you'll notice that it opens new doors for you. Thanks for watching and listening. Cheers

I'm thinking of trying a stainless kettle as an alternative to my Mors pot. I can't decide between this one and the GSI Glacier. My question is does it feel awkward to use with the pour spout located on top of the kettle? It seems like it may be more clumsy to use, but I don't have one in hand, so I'll trust your opinion and experience.
@TheLoreofBushcraft3 жыл бұрын
Hello Lyco, the pour is perfect, and the lid stays in place. It's a great pot and I was lucky to discover it. For well built stainless steel you can't go wrong. I'm also featuring the Uberleben kettle in my next video. It works quite well as a kettle and a pot. smile.amazon.com/dp/B076CSVDYS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_N4T4TSAWFVJ2Z7SM75GS?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 Let me know if you have any more questions. Cheers

Cracking video as always, what was the SOS bar like?, I prefer hammock camping, also prefer meths stoves, even in the depths of winter, is yours the pathfinder one?, and your thermal poncho, was that the original helikon-tex swagman one?, love the way you do your videos, inspires, keeps me going when I'm stuck in bed for afew days, good health and safe travels my friend, cheers craig
@TheLoreofBushcraft3 жыл бұрын
Hi Craig, the SOS bar taste like an extreme Sugar Wafer (that's basically what it is, sugar). It was a no hassle meals that I just wanted to test since I was being rained on the entire time, yuck. I don't really care for alcohol stoves, they tend to be quite heavy, because you have to carry the liquid. I prefer a campfire of course but I know you gents the UK need a variety of stoves due to the fact that there's no wood about, especially up north. It is a Self-Reliance stove and it worked very well. I was wearing a Helikon-Tex Swagman Roll, it's what I used as an underquilt since it has six functions, a blanket, and underquilt, a standalone, poncho liner, summer sleeping bag/emergency bag and a sleeping bag liner itself. In a warmer months I prefer a hammock, because it keeps me sealed in from bugs, off the ground protected from rain and moisture, as well as convection keeps you cool on your back side. Looking forward to you having to you being back on your feet and having a speedy recovery. Cheers

How did you hang your backpack under the tarp?
@TheLoreofBushcraft3 жыл бұрын
Hello Jose, I stuck a forked steak into the ground (similar to wooden coat rack) supported by bucktresses and rocks. I demonstrated it in one of my older videos but I can't remember which one off hand. It really works great. You can also make smaller ones to hang things on. Same tea kettle I have. How does it compare it to the other one you have with two handles on it?
@TheLoreofBushcraft3 жыл бұрын
Hi Scott, well my Eagle Products kettle is .7 litre, costs $56+Tax & Delivery fees compared to $32+Tax & Free Delivery with Amazon prime for the Fire Maple, the EP kettle is elusive and almost entirely sold out worldwide except for an occasional in stock miracle. Obviously, the EP kettle is well sort after. This is a small thing but makes a big difference, the EP's lid always falls off when you're pouring the last bits, FM solved that with that extension on the handle they put (which I appreciate very much). I'm sure the FM will be a great alternative to persons seeking out the EP. Let me know your thoughts. Cheers
@ScottMitchell23 жыл бұрын
@@TheLoreofBushcraft ok I think I'll stay with my fire maple. It's working great but something about the double handles of the EP intrigued me since it could be held more steady. I'm ridiculous sometimes while trying to find a "more perfect" product haha.

Seeing it in action helps, but I am curious about the durability. Do you think it is high enough quality to be the last saw you have to buy and will it be something you can pass down to the next generation?
@TheLoreofBushcraft3 жыл бұрын
Hello David, the new edition outback saw is made with bushcrafters in mine and therefore is very heavy duty compared to their regular models. I've had the previous models for years with no complaint, yet the new models I'm very happy with. Even if I break the blade I can replace it. I definitely recommend it.
