That is a great modification to the bag. Thumbs up.

The hammock conversion is genius Neil. I’m mainly a ground dweller these days (I actually use the Defence 4), but if I was considering going back to hammoking, I’d be doing this for sure.

Superb Neil. I have a similar system. I cocoon my hammock with an adapted Snugpac sleeping bag and an adapted Brit Army bivvy bag. The hammock threads through both. When weather is fine or inclement I have no need for a tarp but can deploy one if necessary. The bivvy bag cocoon really does increase the comfort and can be used in the conventional way also so very versatile. Thank you. Paul 👍😊

I've just got a Corinthia defence 4 (love it) to replace my old British army arctic bag, mainly to try and drop a little weight.

Thank you the this video! It's a really great modification I love it ! I would have been nice to have a video when you make the modification. It scares me to open a bag and start sewing on this kind of modification. I guess only the large version of the sleeping bag fit on an hammock ?

This is the only way to go if you are a hammock camper. My only regret, I bought the retail version of this. On the other hand my bag weighs much less than this one. Really cool tip👍

Hi Neil! Great video as usual and of course great tip, as Dave C would say 2 is 1 and 1 is none. You are the master of looking past the obvious and coming up with something special. As always thanks for your time to bring us the benefit of your experience, much appreciated. On a side note is your hammock a ‘UK Hammocks’ hammock? Kind regards Clive from deepest Dorset.

In the eyes of a bear, you look like a giant green burrito...😬😬😬😉 That’s an interesting set up, I’ve never camped using a hammock. Of course, that bivy setup is perfect when you’re just using a tarp..

Great Bag Neil, I got the Defence 4 in January sales. Brand new. Just over £100 (£120?) can’t remember exactly. Based on your video recommendation. Plus others. Question? What’s the advantage of the mod you did, Over what you said about the airmat? If you had the bag with airmat in the hammock Surely that would work just the same. Because with the hammock passing inside the sleeping bag you’re still compressing it when in the hammock! Or have I missed something?
@greencraft47834 жыл бұрын
Michael, it's a lot simpler to manage, I try to minimise the components when hammocking. When I started doing it back in the late 90's, I had the sleeping bag, bivi bag, sleeping Matt and me all stuffed in the hammock. It took ages to get in, was unstable and I spent most of the night wrestling to keep it all in place. As you can see with this, you just sit in the hammock, zip it up and you are good to go!

I have the British army PAT90 arctic bag to do the same to it as you have with yours. However I am using a 10” zip. It looks like you have quite a narrow opening in yours so, will your narrow openings make your hammock shorter & pinch? Does it restricts your hammocks width until it gets inside your bag?
@greencraft47834 жыл бұрын
No, I hadn't found it restrictive. I figured, the bigger the hole - the more heat would be lost through it

I've had this sleeping bag for a year now and I don't want to exchange it for anything in the world. As a modular with a summer sleeping bag and bivi it is awesome

That doesn't look ideal for laying on the diagonal! You can't take full advantage of the comfort of the hammock and end up in "banana mode"... Love the internal pockets though.
