Hello, and yes I plan on watching every video. And I love being out in the snow, the scenery around you is just beautiful. I've been to many places and camped out off the beaten path with my friends. But now I'm ready to go solo, I know the about the safety rules to follow. And I'm getting ready this weekend to pack my backpack and plot my course. I can't wait to get out there and go exploring. I'm going to try and build my own shelter out of whatever I can find. But I'll be prepared and have a tent just in case I'm not successful at building a shelter. Camping is hard work. Camping in extreme conditions is harder work. Camping and filming is twice as hard. Camping and filming in COLD conditions is three times as hard. Another beautiful video! I just had a brain wave, maybe build a rack with a small fire underneath to dry wood a little, or at least melt the snow off before storage. I imagine it will soak moisture if stored wet..?. I’ve never considered the task of collecting and storing wood in the depths of winter. Thanks for the message of spreading love with white birds, that stirred my emotions a little. I wish the best to you.

Thankyou Johanna for your beautiful videos. I have noticed how adept you are in the way you move about the Forest and build your shelters. Your movements are fluid and graceful with a strength, surety and dexterity to them that remind me of the way an indigenous person who has lived in the Wild their whole lives would move in the woods. A good analogy for what I am trying to express is the way the wood elves move in the Lord of the Rings movies ~ like they are part of their environment. Most human beings are awkward as they move through the brush and over the terrain ~ you seem to flow through and over it. It’s obvious you are in your element and one with the natural world you love. Gratitude for sharing your passion ~ it comes through with elegance in your videos. ☮️

I believe that it would have even more Meaning and Depth being able to read (and understand) it in the Author's Native Language. Yes, the First Blanket of Snow brings with it a Quiet, Serenity and Calmness to the Soul .. a Time for Reflection. That, and being able to be the First to 'break trail' over a freshly-laid White Carpet, looking back at one's tracks and knowing that you are the First. The little 'Snug' that you have built, with the snow surrounding it .. the Oil Lamp and Fire, takes on a cosy and snug allure .. hence my naming thereof 😊. This was a really great video. The background sound of the stream and the snow blanketing the area really makes it. There she goes again working harder than anyone I know. I had only watched the 1st video building this shelter. Now watching what you did with it. I love it! Great design. Nice to look at. So natural. I had a smile on my face for 13 minutes :-) Love the stone walls with canvas(?) door. Now I understand why you made the rounded overhang. It all makes sence to me now. Perfect! My latest building is a one person semi underground roundhouse. Like a polish Lavu tent, but then made with small logs, brances and leaves. Comfy shelter against all kind of bad weather but it's not save to make a fire inside for extra heating. Only cooking on a triangia. You inspired me to rebuild a old lean to shelter of my. I'm thinking of a reased bed with wood storage under the bed and a reased stone fireplace in front of the shelter. Ofcource with de rounded overhang and stone inclosing like your design. I'm thinking of a canvast AND plastic door. That makes it a super shelter with the fire in front. Thanks for the inspiration.

I would think that using a complete tent in winter camping is superior to a time-guzzing process of building up an uncomplete shelter, at least energy-saving. Another suggestion is that if you build a reflector behind fireplace, is of helpful to keep your sheter more warmer. Your "camping skills" showed us an excellent and experienced outdoor living skills. I really learned a lot from you Thank you !

Hi Johanna! You have a very nice shelter! I like the idea of having an arc shaped overhead entrance to help shed rain away. An arc also helps strengthen the weight baring for the roof. I find your shelter being very cozy and the size of it is just right for one person, meaning that the internal space is small and a bit easier to heat up. I say that you've done a very good job, trying to accommodate yourself for that snowy outdoors!
