Bushcraft Stone Fireplace - Building a long-term shelter in the woods (Part 4)

Bushcraft Stone Fireplace - Making a stove for my shelter using mud and rocks from the river, adding a chimney, protecting the roof from the heat by using a metal can and soil, testing the stove, and cooking my first dinner with its help. No talking, only peaceful nature sounds.
I decided to build a stone fireplace for my shelter before finishing building the walls, as it was easier to build and move around carrying rocks this way. This was also a project that required many days of work. I spent my first day just carrying lots of rocks from the river, digging and filming beautiful wildflowers - snowdrops (which are called spring's first messengers here) and Scilla bifolia (Alpine Squill).

I really like your fireplace. I'm very good at making things but I couldn't have done that any better myself, using the natural resources that you found. I've done a lot of camping over the years, almost always with a campfire, but I spent a memorable weekend in a tent a few years ago on the Isle of Mull, Scotland, in pouring wind and rain. The weather was so bad that I couldn't have kept a fire going outside, so I know how good it feels to have that warmth. The tent was great and kept me dry, but I missed having a fire. It's just not the same without it. I'm not a veggie (sorry), but your food looks great too. Good stuff Johanna... I like it. ☺
