Bertram - Craft and Wilderness

Күн бұрын

3 days in the woods buling a A-frame shelter from natural materials. Open the full video description for more information.
Here is all videos from the camp • Highlights from making...

Location: Denmark - previous viking country. West coast of Jutland - sand, big sea, spruce and pine forrest. Some of the most remote in Denmark, but a lot of people in Denmark so limited how remote it can get. A lot of birds and deer. No bears only a few wolves - nothing dangerous for campers. If you want to do the same in Denmark do you need to be the owner or get the owners permission.

Wow! with the talk of mental health in bush craft over the last few weeks, I feel it all comes together in your body of work. there is no need of talking, you have a very calming effect that jumps off the screen and has a very big impact on your viewers. Thank you for the fantastic effort and hard work you put into your work.

Mental health is highest in order to perform bushcraft at a survival level. It's just that the puppeteers of this world don't want independant people, that don't need welfare, because independence is bad for "their" power structure.

If you ever go outside and enjoy being away from built-up areas for any reason, this man's videos are like a soothing balm for the soul. No traffic, no mobile phones, no constant chatter.........just a man enjoying time alone in natural surroundings and making himself comfortable there. There's nothing about these videos to dislike although there are currently 24 sad stubborn souls who, apparently, don't agree. They have lost their way and are to be pitied.

How can anyone put a dislike to your videos. Your videos are the best. I feel as though as i am there as there is only the sound of nature and no annoying music. Your videos also teach Bushcraft skills without the need to speak, and also the videos are top quality with many different video angles. Great work. Continue to enjoy your time outside with nature.

I remember the best trip in the Polish and Czech mountains some 20-25 years ago. It was not a classic bushcraft. The whole trip was based on team competition. In 5 days you had to get many peaks and make notes of them. All belongings had to be carried on the back. Accommodation each night in a different place. Great fun. Everyone helped others as much as he could. I wish everyone to have the opportunity to participate in such a trip.

I'm impressed by the thing that is not in the video … so little noise ! Anyone who have made a video themselves, will know what a PITA wind noise can be. Like, @ 15:09 when he bites into the meat you can hear him chew it. No background drone of cars, no massive wind noise, not even the ducks/geese. The "sound picture" is amazing!

The minimalism of a modest shelter and simple fire brings you close to the land in a way that blue tarps and bonfires never could. Instead there is moss and the quiet spit and crackle of flame and kindling. The fact that you don’t address the camera gives these videos a cinematic quality. Still life moments around your rustic camp. You seem alone out there without audience or lens, and we get to surreptitiously observe the fluency of your skills-silent, organic, authentic. Flawless cinematography lulls us into a dream where the camera disappears.

Very relaxing episode today, really enjoyed it, I look forward to seeing the campsite develop in the future. Are you planning to create more structures for things like storage, and if so will they be similar in style to the existing one, or would you have a mix of styles at the same site? I particularly liked the simple yet effective method of carrying the moss, it's one of those things you often don't think of unless shown.
@BertramCraftAndWilderness
@BertramCraftAndWilderness 5 жыл бұрын
Frithgar Thanks. I will make at least one more shelter in this camp site - a woodshed... Just a lean to shelter or something similar for firewood, the backpack and a few other thinks... Just a very small one. The rest will be building sawhorse and wood working construction and stuff like that. I keep it in the same style... I will make other camps in different style.
