Always a joy to watch your superb woodsmanship and craft skills. Your easily the best of any of my watched channels and highly instructive. It's like watching my grandfather as he would have done a hundred years ago before camping was inundated with all the commercial crap that most of the "Bushcraft" channels are now telemarketing to unsuspecting people now. Real woodsmen can and should make a much as possible to really enjoy themselves and entertain their watchers. Great work my Friend!

Another fantastic video, thank you sir. Just one question. Do you not get coffee grounds in the up when placing the coffee directly in the kettle and pouring straight into the cup?
@super66craig
@super66craig 5 жыл бұрын
its widely known as cowboy coffee. The original history would be that they would carry green coffee beans with them as did all coffee drinkers 100 years ago. Green beans could be stored for long periods if kept dry and they where cheaper than roasted coffee. They then would roast the green beans in a frying pan on the fire or in an oven at home until they reach the dark brown shade with several little cracks. It was then ground up in a coffee meal, the old wood ones you may have seen,. Filling a pot with cold water was very important to the brewing process. Then the ground coffee was added and it would float on top until the water boiled, at which time it would sink to the bottom of the pot. They would also sometimes add egg shells because the calcium would settle the bitterness often found with slightly under roasted coffee. Then you just carefully poured a cup of coffee and the grounds would stay in the pot on the bottom!

Here in Sweden, we use to pour one cup of the newly boiled coffee into a cup, and then pour it straight back into the kettle again to make all coffee settle on the bottom.
@Swedwoods
@Swedwoods 5 жыл бұрын
I usually put spruce twigs in the spout as a coffee filter. But was lazy. But if the pan rests long enough after the boil the grounds stay at the bottom. Or you can as Jonny say pour some coffee back in it. In old times when the coffee was of poor quality they used dried skin from pike in the coffee to make it clearer. I have no idea how that tasted LOL
