Having a bad day? KZbin with bushcraft tools has solved your troubles by bring you adorable British Dude and dog (Amber). Seriously, I grew up in the woods in Oregon and learned this stuff as I went but suddenly 25 years later I actually care about it again because of this guy. Please don't read this as sarcasm, yah boy does great work. Like and subscribe and comment like mad. Someone who cares this much should be at the top of the algorithm.

Tree sap and fatwood are my favorites. I always have a lot of pitch ointment with me and it's good against injuries, sprains, cracks and splinters in the skin, a perfect companion even for making a fire. Made from resin from conifers with lard or olive oil and beeswax in a ratio of 4 parts resin, 2 parts oil and 2 parts beeswax. There are sure to be many recipes on the internet

Very educational. Can I ask you to do a video about the same subject only with apsolutely no tools. Imagine you survived a plane crash and you didn't have any tools on your person. You need fire to survive in a mountainous area. Let's also imagine it was a damp climate like Ireland and 90% of the time things are damp or wet. So no tools and everything is damp or wet. I'm just interested to see techniques to survive a situation like that when you weren't prepared for it, have no tools on your person but need to survive.

I usually find the richest fat wood deposits in roots and stumps and only moderate deposits in limb joints, but sometimes I will luck into an above-average deposit in a joint. I’ve been wondering if how much resin a tree produces is in it genes, and I’m not sure yet of the answer. If true, it means if I find a great deposit in one joint, then I should harvest all knots in that tree, and if I find a mediocre deposit, then I should probably save my time and move onto the next tree. What do you think? I’ve also wondered where it was better to check a tree. Is there likely to be more fat wood at the tree top or base? The underside of a fallen tree and it doesn’t matter? I don’t know.
