I was there with my dad, brother and my dad’s friend! When I was about 11 years old and my younger brother 10 years old bear hunting! I missed a Volkswagen bear across a bay! Trigger happy I guess! My dad’s friend and I was flown into a bay and dropped off the pilot said see you in a week and dropped my dad and brother in another covey float plane and said the same thing! My dad and brother both came back with bears! It took the pilot almost 2 weeks to come get us! It rained every day except the first day! Learning that the tide went out 50 feet or more in the middle of the night we had to move the tent into the forest! It was insane!
@wrightackle1Ай бұрын
I know you like those centerpins but dang catching them on the spinners looks to be a lot more fun. You get to hear the drag scream. Have you ever thought about using salt water fly reels. You could back off the drag to let the floats drift, then apply the drag when you get the fish on. Just a thought you know your stuff for sure. I love how you show the struggle to find the fish. That really makes for an authentic video. Looking forward to seeing Ollie again!
@AdventureChasingАй бұрын

Kyle I moved from Manistique to POW thirty years ago. Wish I knew you were coming! I use a Hoochie skirt on a Gamagatsu jig with a bobber and work it in the slow water and they hit it on the fall. In the hole where you landed your first one several years ago I landed and released 54 by 1:00 pm. My arm couldn't take any more. Back then there were no tourists and often had the hole to myself. Glad you don't give directions! I really miss the people and the year round variety of fish in the UP. By the way, there is no H in Wales.
@AdventureChasingАй бұрын
Wow, thanks for the comment and grammar tip. I grew up in Manistique and lived there until I was 16. What a beautiful place POW is. I’m sure I’ll be back again and can’t wait. Best of luck this fall and your upcoming seasons!

Another awesome video! How do you know how deep to set the float when float fishing for salmon?
@AdventureChasingАй бұрын
I always change my depths. Salmon will suspend a lot of times. Typically I’ll set my float until I start dragging bottom (you’ll know you are on bottom when the float leans sideways and constantly goes down while drifting). Once I find bottom, I’ll set it so it’s just off then go from there. It’s always a good idea to run shallow first though, maybe 2-4’ deep. Hope this helps👍
@SyrusMaitlandАй бұрын
You should go to sawdust hole by tippy dam on the manistee the salmon run is crazy i went last week and got 12 keepers 6 snaged/ let go and 2 zombie fish

Kyle can you send me a price package and where you stayed please this is a bucket list for me.
@AdventureChasingАй бұрын
Well it looks different for everyone. We cut down on costs by gathering a group of several people, booking flights from larger airports (such as Chicago O’Hare) and going on a self-guided trips. It’s important to book these trips in a way that suits your situation the best though so it’s hard to say what a price range would be. I was a full time guide for about 10 years for salmon/trout/steelhead so I have a lot of knowledge on how to find fish in unfamiliar areas. For those who aren’t as experienced, going with a guide for at least a couple days would be very beneficial to get started.
