Ditto. I'm a L3/L4 incomplete walking paraplegic, 39 years post. I have a collection of canes & crutches I use depending on what I am wearing. Canes in different colors, head colors & types (brass, gold, silver, steel, etc.), and materials. My daily crutches are black for a neutral look, with bendable cuffs to adjust for different styles of coats and outerwear. Also fairly substantial collection of shoes & socks. Different shoe sizes for whether I'm wearing AFOs (braces) that day or not. And when dressing up, using socks over the AFOs to hide them. If you roll part time like I do, clothes fit differently when you are sitting in a wheelchair. Having sitting & standing clothes will keep you looking good either way.

You wanna know something kinda funny? I have watched the Gazette for a few months now, maybe half a year or more. The funny thing is that i will probably never dress-up in this kind of way, any time soon. Still, i watch and enjoy the content, the different styles tips, discussion and so on. My style is of course depending on weather (here in Norway it is very windy and rains a lot), it usually consists of the main stream brand name hoodies, T-shirts, belts, ripped jeans and sneakers. Not the super expensive Supreme, Gucci or LV. Mostly because i would never pay that much for cloths at my age, i am 17 turning 18 in October. What i wanted to say is just that the content is fun and enjoyable even for the people outside of your primary demographic. Also i know what want from my new suit since my last one is too small and i bought it 4 years ago, when i was 14, so thank you for that. Keep up the great content and thank you for a little more entertaining during the quarantine :)

I worked for a corporation led by a famous billionaire. He wasn't real hands on but his partners and their mangers were on site monthly for several days. These guys were all uber successful and when I observed them, they all fit a certain mold in their dress. They were all in their 40's+, all in great shape (the majority retired military officers) and well groomed. They all wore expensive tailored slacks with dark business socks in high dollar import slip on shoes that were well polished. A matching expensive belt and dress shirts in window pane or checked light blues that were tailor made. No ties. I started wearing what they wore and got plenty of those positive glances from them. My advice....wear what your bosses wear.

Where I used to work, these outfits would have been considered full business dress. In the mid-late 90s when business casual/dress down Fridays came on the scene, my boss at the time pulled me aside and told me to "tone it down" because I was making him look bad. He wasn't a slob, but he preferred the Larry David, relaxed type look. Apparently, his boss asked why people in his division dressed better than him. Ouch! Needless to say, that was a long time ago and I've moved on, but always chuckle when I hear business casual attire mentioned. Nice video, guys!

When the others would complain that why he didn’t sometimes pick them, he would respond to them that “if you keep a sports jacket and spare tie in the drafting room closet, wear a shirt that you can put a tie on and look decent, I will invite you to some of the site inspections.

I sit at a desk and see to our department's needs mostly by way of emails and processing orders. I also sit at the very front of our entrance so I am the first thing one sees if someone enters the building so I dress more formally by default, jackets and odd trousers maybe a vest and a tie instead on occasion but I am surrounded by individuals in work boots jeans and utility jackets. I have no uniform restrictions or requirements within my company to base my dress code off of, however the individuals that I work with are not in the same job as me I just work in very close proximity to them. I have not had any complaints that my more formal wear is in anyway distracting or disruptive but it has been commented on on occasion. Dear Gentlemen, today I was confrontated with a question that I could not answer and my research on Gentlemans Gazette was not successful: If your suit jacket has a "side vents gap" and the fabric is not lying flat on your bump, can a tailor fix this by letting out sides (or by any other method?)
@susanv74154 жыл бұрын
I sell menswear. If the gap is prominent, letting out the center seam and modestly opening up the side seams can maintain the coats structure. I do mostly custom work and if side vents are a problem because of the prominence of the derriere I recommend a single vent or no vent. I still cut a tailored fit or slim fit jacket if that silhouette is appropriate for the frame, but the vent placement can solve the problem. In most RTW collections, a center vent is only available on a traditional fit coat, which is dated and not generally flattering.

Overall good video but I will say this I disagree with you about jeans. They are acceptable for sure a business casual wardrobe, especially if they are darker in color I think sports jackets are old-school for your grandpa look same with some of the sweater, patterns, and blazers I got rid of mine. I only wear suits when I dress up, my dressy casual look is usually a nice sweater dark jeans, dress, shoes, or boots. In the summertime, I wear a short sleeve polo with jeans and dress shoes I think khakis and chinos especially are wanna be dress pants. If you’re gonna wear dress pants, wear dress pants, preferably a full suit.

Years ago I worked at a bank and they would not let us dress really "down" on Fridays.

I find it’s not worth me using bow ties in my outfits because of my beard you can’t really see them.

One problem with the double-breasted jacket is that you're stuck with wearing it all buttoned up. In Texas, if you're buttoned up...you're cooking up like a well dressed baked potato.

Can you please educate me on a, "Button down?" I think they're repugnant and something my grandfather would ware (not in a good way). I don't believe a button down collar looks good on anyone. Willing to have my mind changed.

The main thing is the collar roll. This roll, along with the oxford cloth softness, and the overall softness, forms the not so stiff, rigid and dressy, yet smart and comfortable look. To form a beautifully slouchy and soft roll which makes the impression of the complete opposite of a formal, stiff look, the button down collar has to be incredibly soft, ideally unlined-oh, and cut in a right way, of course (we don't talk here about numerous mall shirts with their poor, short collars). Try to find some pics of the vintage Brooks Brothers OCBDs (oxford cloth button downs) to see what I mean. P.S. Why would your grandfather be against button down shirts?..

All nice, but highly dependent on the culture of one’s workplace.

The more I watch these Videos, the less I believe in a capsule Wardrobe. Right now I may hace a small warddrobe, but thats mostly because I am in university.
