So... What tricks does Walmart use to sell stuff?.. This video basically just said they do the basics of every other department store which everyone knows already. "Walmart has a lot of signs and carries a wide range of stuff". You don't say... "Walmart has good prices". Okay, and?.. Competitive prices aren't exactly a complex revolutionary marketing trick. "Walmart prices things so that people mentally round down". I never understood why anyone would round down a price, but I don't think I have ever seen any store that doesn't do this. "Walmart plays music that is calming or popular". You mean like 95% of stores that own a radio?

@anthonyrobertson7062
@anthonyrobertson7062 5 жыл бұрын
ManFred TheLast Yeah, every store does all these, or a least some of them. No store has every item at the dollar mark $4.00 $5.00 etc. There is often 98 or 90 cents tacked on. What store doesn't have music playing? Our small town grocery does.

And why are they broke? China Mart has eliminated their job, either by causing decent paying local merchants to close (losing jobs), or offering China made products causing US manufactures to close, or despecing products making them worthless (good for a year). I won't go into how we the people subsidies ChinaMart buy paying for their employees assistance programs. Never go to ChinaMart.

As a child I figured out that marketing tactic with pricing. I would round the number up and tell my mom “it’s $20”. She would freak out and say “NO!” But if I said the price is 19.98 she would let me get something. It irritated me not being able to round up with this woman.

As a cashier at Walmart, I often get customers say they only came for one or two items but got a full cart as that's the point of Walmart haha. Also another tactic my store does is instead of listing $1 of one item, they instead list 2 for $2 or 4 for $4, making people not only think they're getting a good deal but also have to get more to get that deal when it will still be the same unit price
@richstrobel
@richstrobel Жыл бұрын
I do the math and buy the one item if that's all I want. To me it's annoying when stores offer a better price but only if you buy two. I wonder how many sales they lose because a lot of people only want one? I haven't bought something many times because of that.

I've never considere a $4.93 item as being a $4 item. I round up to $5. The lighting is part of the shopping atmosphere that marketers are keenly aware of. Every time we shop at a department store, we have become victims of psychological manipulation. From the signage, music selection, size of the carts, width of the aisles, and the lighting are all used to prompt us to impulse buy. This is why LISTS are very important! They keep you on task and prevent you from busting your budget.

Walmart SuperCenters don’t have skylights or windows so customers spend more time in store. Electronics, and Automotive are always in the rear of the store to get people to roam. And of course grocery staples like milk and eggs are in the rear of the store, but bread is always toward the front.

The Waltons are one of richest families in the nation but they expect their workers to get food stamps. I will never shop at Walmart until they start treating their people with respect and give a living wage with reasonable, reliable working hours.

You don't hear groups of Walmart employees complaining do you? The people who work at Walmart and get food stamps need a system like that. Allows them to work part time and get extra $ for food. Many of them have children and it would bankrupt them if they had to pay for daily child care. Grandma will watch them for a few hours for free!

What I found out about Walmart ????? Where I live in Henderson, NV. I have access to 4 Supercenter stores within 15 miles of each other just in Henderson. If I leave Henderson the other way, I have access to more than 4 more stores also within 15 to 20 miles in Las Vegas. You would think the exact same products from one store to another would cost the same in all they're stores. Not a chance.. They're prices vary anywhere from 25 cents to 4.00 and 5.00 dollars depending on the clientelle of certain neighborhoods. Recently, I was putting together a party for about 8 to 10 adults. I used Walmart for specific items and some other stores for larger bulk items. In all, I went to 3 different Walmart, 2 Smiths Food and Drugs and 2 Albertson's Food stores. When I started seeing the differences in prices at the Walmart, I started doing some comparisons of identical products from the other Walmart. They did, indeed, vary as much as 5.00 in some of the cases. After the party, I returned a lot of the unopened items and asked why one store has different prices than another store in various amounts. I was told the manager can reset prices depending on the amount of theft from one store to the next. Stores in not so good neighborhoods, charge more to make up for theft. Stores in relatively nicer areas, charge more because they get a better, richer, class of people that won't go to the nastier stores and will pay more because they don't know about Walmarts scam on the public. All in all, out of about $600.00 in shopping that week for the party, I found my best prices on products and quality at SMITH'S. Smith's had fresher foods, much cleaner storage for the foods, never found one "out of date" product at Smiths. Walmarts product needed to be carefully inspected for dates. Found a lot of them there. As far as fresh hamburger, steak, Cole slow and potatoes salads,, never shop Walmart. I think they rewrap some of it with newer dates. It didn't last as long as Smiths... Walmart has some good deals but named brands are safer at real stores... Why should better off people have to pay more for the thieves...
