Great job, as always! This and "Watermelon", my two favorite tunes to play from that album. I learned it from the vinyl and wore out 3 of them learning all those tunes. Makes me want to break out the 12 again and re-live those days! But, alas, arthritis prevents me from playing the 12! ("Don't Cry for Me Argentina" ;o)

Sorry to hear that Bill. If I had to pick a favorite from 6&12 I’d say Arkansas Greyhounds. I wish he would have kept that in his repertoire in the early 70s. My favorite from the MFAS record is probably Eggtooth. I’m a sucker for the standard tuning stuff.
@PatriotsDecendant2 жыл бұрын
I feel for you, Bill. My 1978 Guild 12-string gets to little attention now for the same reason: arthritis. It sucks.

If you’re from Wisconsin, I’ll bet you studied Leo’s oeuvre with John Stropes at UW-Milwaukee. Stropes is the only fingerstyle guitar scholar who has deconstructed and demystified Leo’s unmistakable right hand technique. Your rendition of BB sounds just like the cut on the Armadillo record. Truly amazing. Do you worry about getting tendinitis by using a thumbpick and fingerpicks like LK did years ago? He saved his right hand by ditching the picks.
@andrewlardner Жыл бұрын
We have to consider that he was playing a couple hundred shows a year at the time, I don’t necessarily think picks were the direct cause of his tendinitis. No, I don’t worry at all. Been playing injury free for almost 25 years.

I've just started a channel of my own, and would like to personally invite you to check it out if you can find a minute. Its been up and running less than a week now, and I only have 4 or 5 clips up so far. But Im headed there right now to post my favorite Leo Kottke cover that I've done. I'm not your competition btw, I only know how to play 6 strings at a time, lol. 1971 Guild D35. Thanks and Best Wishes from the Mississippi Delta.

@andrewlardner Жыл бұрын
Just depends on where your hands are at. If you have some basic experience in fingerstyle with fairly solid technique there is nothing too difficult in this one. If you want to play it at Leo’s tempo… that’s a different story.
