Rick was great but he was a little too mature for his own good to date a high school girl. He wasn't in the same high school world as them and his maturity and similarities to Jim Walsh ended up getting him in the friend zone. He was also a little bit too romantic and committed immediately to Brenda. Talking about marriage and fate and kismet and all that when they had barely gone on a date. It killed the mystery and challenge and made him seem like a bore. Even if he was very handsome and intelligent.

When it comes to dating and marriage, I don’t like mystery very much. It means someone is hiding something and only out for themselves. The mystery means the one who chooses to be mysterious has no interest in being honest at all. If they’re honest, they know they’ll lose the person they’re trying to get somewhere with. It’s all about what they want, to hell with the other person. You gotta get to know someone before you ever think about dating them. Cause it might not be worth it to date them. Esp if you’re not both headed in the same direction or you both want different things. If you only want to play the field, then date someone who only wants that too, don’t date someone who wants a serious relationship. I don’t care how much you want to have sex with them. It’s not worth it. If you want something serious, don’t date the hottie that changes partners once a week. It’s really that simple.

Shannen’s performances throughout her career have always been top notch. Whether you love her or you love to hate her, I can personally say, she’s always been captivating and authentic. Those qualities made her stand out as one of the best performers on 90210 or as some would refer to it, the cheesy campy teen drama. Regardless of whatever issues Shannen was going through, Aaron Spelling lacked the professionalism to help her work through it. Considering his children were around her age, one would think that he’d know how to handle the situation on a human level rather than on a business level solely based on viewers, ratings and dollar signs. Permanently removing a cast member that was one of the core characters from the very start was not only stupid, but it was absolutely deplorable.

Just to be clear, there's only one loser in this drama and that's Dylan. I have re-watched the series as a 42 year old and man do I see it with fresh eyes as a grown up: Brenda was really smart, independent and fun. Kelly was all about finding validation with the next guy. Dylan only wanted sex. Both these girls were better off without this "tortured soul" 🤢 Kelly tried several times to break it off with Dylan, always keeping Brenda in mind, her only mistake was not telling Brenda about this night. Either way, ladies and gents stay away from the Dylans!

This is why I couldn't believe that Brenda was totally blind sided when Dylan chose Kelly over her. Brenda already suspected Dylan of being with Kelly when she came home from Paris. Then Dylan eventually admits he was with someone over the summer. Then the minute Brenda breaks up with Dylan(again) to date Rick Dylan immediately goes on a date with Kelly like within a couple of days. It just didn't seem random at all. Plus, it was revealed that Dylan babysat with Kelly one night for Kelly's baby sister. Doesn't sound suspicious at all. Lol I guess Brenda just didn't want to believe it deep down. RIP to the great Shannon Doherty.

In season 1 During the girls' night at Brenda's house, Kelly admitted to Brenda that she had tried to get closer to Dylan, and at that time Brenda did not ask Kelly why she had gotten closer to Dylan like she knew Kelly was in love with Dylan. When Brenda and Donna were in the car Brenda looked at Dylan and Kelly like that she said they were going to get closer, in Beverly Hills New Generation Brenda told Kelly that she can never be happy because she still loves Dylan , I think that Brenda always knew deep down that Kelly was in love with Dyan, but she didn't think that Dylan could have chosen Kelly.

Here, Kelly and Dylan are the 'winners and Brenda is the 'loser.' The loser has to swallow his/her pride and get along with the 'winners' if they want to keep their 'friends.' Sad! That said, once we reach late adulthood, we have no qualms blasting the betrayers and those 'fake' friends who support them and willingly distancing ourselves from the entire toxic mess. *As adults, we realize that having genuine friends and peace of mind is more important than having so called 'good-time Charlie friends' to hang out and being 'cool.'* Any thoughts or comments?

@@prasad9002 Yes you are right Dylan wanted to be with Kelly and not with Brenda, because at that moment Kelly was closer to him than Brenda was, Dylan had changed he had other desires and other needs, and Kelly was more as attentive to Dylan as Brenda was at that moment. The discussions Dylan and Kelly had were deeper than the discussions Brenda and Rick had, and they did not know each other since childhood like Kelly and Dylan but unlike Kelly, Brenda comforted Dylan after the death of Dylan's father. Dylan unlike Kelly, Dylan will feel the need to be in Brenda's arms at that moment. In season 4 Dylan and Brenda will get closer to each other again, Dylan will call Brenda who will be in the minesotat because he will miss Brenda and he will want to go out with Brenda again at some point, he will defend Brenda against Kelly.

Kelly was concerned about her friendship and wanted to tell Brenda what happened, but Dylan talked her into keeping it a secret..i really started to hate his character from this point, he turned to be a heartless selfish fuckboy without any morals, while at first he seemed like he is having a positive character development. About Kelly, yes number one rule is not going out with your best friend's ex (although she wanted Dylan way before Brenda moved to town), but what's even more important: you don't treat your ex girlfriend like shit and lying to her face several times when she loved you that much she gave you her virginity..

True, but it was pretty laughable even back then. It was basically 'the original' teen comedy meets teen soap-opera. Watching it again, I forgot just HOW fluffy it was though! The way they are perfectly & heavily made up at all hours of the day & NIGHT....& wear fancier clothes than a fashion model. But it was fun for the 1990s.....helped make that decade more bearable! :)
