The sad thing is that Ross was so afraid to lose Rachel, that he let his jealousy turn him irrational and basically ended up sabotaging their relationship. Shows the importance of working on yourself and controlling your self-destructive habits.
@GN-Aaron Жыл бұрын
@Igi Ross is really narcissistic and manipulative in the last scene. he's blaming her for the situation without taking accountability for cheating (either his choice or he was taken advantage of, but never Rachel's fault). If he didn't pretend nothing happened and instead sat down to have a talk with Rachel before deciding to swipe everything under the rug, and told her he slept with another woman, that he was hurt about Mark, and that he was drink and irrational, maybe it would've been better. And in any case, he should've respected her decision. Instead, he's making himself look like a victim of circumstances, always someone else's fault, never his own. Rachel might have a lot of faults, but she has every right to feel broken and manipulated.

As a girlfriend, she was patient and devoted to him. She was simply trying to build a career, which takes dedication and a little sacrifice of her social life. Look what could've happened if Ross gave her space? She was inviting friends to shows, going to galas that he could've gone with. "I didn't think there was a relationship to jeopardize. I thought we were broken up" "That, for all I knew, could last forever. That, to me, is a breakup" "I thought our relationship was dead". Such lame, disgusting excuses. Even if Ross really thought their relationship was over, that makes him an extremely insensitive person and their relationship very lame: not even 24 hours passed since Rachel suggested they should take a break, and already he slept with another woman! If he really cared for Rachel, he'd not jump to other woman's bed so quickly. Ross is also a hypocrite: if Rachel slept with Mark or any other man during their breakup, would he put up with that, since he believed their relationship was over?! No way. He made it clear when Rachel asked him that (during the rest of scene). Yet he demands that Rachel will forgive him! The bottom line: Ross is a total jerk.

@gilamoshayev8326Ай бұрын
@user-fg3fv9hl3b No you are wrong. Mark was her co-worker who got her her job that she loves and he was her friend. He invited himself over not to hook up, not to make out, not even to have a date with her. Mark told Rachel that he was coming over to cheer her up. Guess what the entire time that he was there nothing happened between them. Just because Mark liked her doesn’t mean that she would cheat on Ross with him. Rachel literally spent the time that he was there talking about her argument with Ross and how she doesn’t want a break. Let me reiterate, a break is not the same thing as breaking up. In fact he exact words were, “Maybe we should take a break, a break from us.” The word MAYBE should not be conveniently overlooked because you want to make excuses for Ross. There is no excuse for what he did.

It's not about being on a break or being broken up. It's about his personality and actions. It's unattractive to know that when your partner is sad, the first thing they want to do is sleep with someone else. Even if it means nothing to them. There are other ways to express grief and anger.

God this was so brilliantly acted. I watch Jenn’s face and can literally feel her trying to see if she can get past the thought of him with Chloe and she just can’t. Or lots and lots of time.
@gilamoshayev8326Ай бұрын
@anniealtevers2173 Someone forgiving infidelity is not something to be applauded. Once a cheater always a cheater. Only a weak person with a very low self-esteem forgives infidelity or at least pretends to forgive it. A strong person despite the feelings that they had or have respect themselves enough to not forgive the unforgivable. Guaranteed if someone is foolish enough to forgive infidelity the cheater will see that they got away with it and didn’t lose out on the relationship that they were in. He was with Carol for 7 years and almost slept with Phoebe on a pool table the night she ended their marriage. Some people have different coping mechanisms to try to erase grief & depression. Rachel went to the airport to get with Ross but he got off the plane with Julie, then she went & slept with Palo that same night. She did that pretty fast when she was gonna confess to loving another man just a few hours prior. Joey & Chandler told Ross to get a drink, he did just that & Chloe was throwing herself at him and he was brushing her off but relented & agreed to 1 dance to make her go away. Plus he'd called Rachel's apartment only to find out she had Mark over soon after & she got caught lying about it. We know that she's innocent but Ross isn't a mind-reader & Rachel wasn't showing trustworthy behavior to him. Same with Ross x Emily. He says Rachel's name in their vows, then she arrives at the airport to see him going on *their* honeymoon flight with the same women whose name he said. Ross was innocent but he stupidly put himself in a compromising position for his partner to get the wrong idea.

@@user-fg3fv9hl3bit’s been awhile but towards the end of the argument his behavior was very disgusting and manipulative. turning the blame on her, downplaying his actions, inappropriate intimacy towards her. i’d say def manipulative (even unintentional). i can see the gaslighting angle from him downplaying the situation and getting angry at her for being justifiably angry.

Rachel was Ross’s dream girl. The one he’d always wanted to be with. Amazing how quickly he was prepared to throw all that away. She deserved a lot better than him.

Rachel didn’t ask for a break because she stopped loving Ross, he was suffocating her, jealous and controlling. She needed some space and to think that he was okay enough to sleep with another woman within hours would have been devastating to her. I fully understand why Rachel couldn’t forgive him.

This is why communication is important. You can't tell your bf/gf "maybe we should take a break." That just means " I don't want to be in a relationship with you for the time being but you can't be in a relationship with anyone else". They should have said something like" we've be arguing and fighting a lot and it needs to stop. Let's take some time to cool off. We're not ending the relationship but just giving each other time to really gather our thoughts so we can solve this problem we're in

You make no sense. Ross majorly screwed up. Rachel had every right to be mad at him. If anyone should have said let’s discuss this later it should have been Ross. If he wasn’t clear about what she meant he should have asked. You don’t move on from a meaningful relationship with out confirming the status of the relationship.

this scene will always make me tear up. especially near the end where david captures the emotion of ross being so desperate to say or do anything just to keep rachel. when he started saying "without these arms, and your face, heart..." with a quiver in his voice, i choke up every single time. when rachel says "i can't stop picturing you with her", that was especially well captured as well.

“You sure had a hell of a time at the wake.” That line alone needs to be acknowledged more. It’s not really about whether it was cheating or not. Regardless, rather than try to fight for their relationship, Ross immediately gave up and let someone else into his bed. Rachel had every right to be hurt by that.

If only Ross would’ve been understanding that she had a situation at work and her being new to her job and really wanting to do right by it, he should have waited until the following night. His insecurities ruined the relationship.

@@brianna-reneejeanjordan9160 In my opinion, this whole breakup could’ve been avoided. Rachel should’ve been more clear. @@brianna-reneejeanjordan9160 Agreed. Ross and Rachel’s relationship was nothing but a plot device. That’s just terrible

Many years have passed, and this still feels so sad, Rachel wasn't perfect yes, but she was a good woman, a great friend, and a lovely partner, Ross screwed it up, and didn't even consider to try to make things right with her, but to try to play the victim Such a waste of time for both them

The thing about whether they were on a break or not she clearly says it right there, it was a break, they both agree that it was a break and I think it's completely unnecessary for people to keep fighting about it because they say it right there in the video. The actual problem is that even after she finds out he slept with another woman, he for some reason thinks she doesn't have a right to be upset, he expects for everything to go back to normal. He was always a very toxic person in the show, from not respecting her career, not being happy that she is making a name for herself and inviting him to places shes happy in like the galas but at the same time expecting her to go to him to museum events with him. Always being jealous and thinking that the only reason someone from her work helps her through a tough situations just so that they have sex with her, thinking being a nanny is a "strange" profession for a man when it's actually a very respectable profession and him indicating that during that episode (i don't remember which one) is very sexist of him. Even at 1:58 where he says he though he should have told her but then blames. Joey and Chandler for keeping him from telling her just goes to say the type of guy he is, he blames his friends for having him keep it a secret, he should have just told her instead of putting the blame on someone else, especially her in 2:25 when he gets defensive because she doesn't say anything to him, she is just simply trying to process the situation in a clam manner and he just goes and gets mad.
