I really found this very helpful. I agree with you that the CutlabS software needs to be improved. I hope Lightburn becomes 100% compatible with K8 so I can use a camera. Excellent and honest review!

Great review. Waiting to get mine here soon. I backed it on kickstarter a while ago.

@BusterBeagle3D got my k8 and started to notice its not cutting all the way through on a single pass on the same wood that I have been using since setting it up. Went through the user manual, no info on how to take off the laser to see if the lense is diety or not. But I have noticed after 4 sheets of wood not cutting all the way through it cut on the next one no issues. Could it be inconsistencies with the wood? Or is the lens in need of cleaning? I only have about an hour of run time on the engraver so far

@@Bearded_BlondePlywood is notoriously not consistent. Since it's made up of different layers of wood, glue, and fillers one piece could cut different then the next. Again I also prefer to cut things in multiple faster passes then one slow pass. This also helps to keep the lens cleaner. I didn't try to take my laser off to look at the lens but a quick picture with your phone should give you an idea if it's dirty or not.

Thanks for this. So, rather than get the air filter, better off putting the hose out the window, right?

Yes. I would highly recommend exhausting outside.

Thanks for the video, some great info in here! Mine just arrived. I'm still struggling to get it properly calibrated using the cross grid as I can't seem to get it aligned no matter how I do it. Any advice? Or should I just keep experimenting? Also, what x, y, h, w numbers did you end up with in the end?
@BusterBeagle3D8 ай бұрын
Hello. It should already be calibrated from the company but mine was a tiny bit off. I ended up with -0.1, 245, 80, 540, 540. Also make sure to enable the camera and disable the camera after each tiny adjustment to see the results.

Did you ever get your machine calibrated and how is it working now? Thanks.

Thank you for your review! Have you tried engraving on uncolored stainless steel? They send a dog tag with a golden coat to test metals, but I wonder if the engrave would be readable on tags with no coat of paint.

I didn't on this machine specifically but I have before on other diode machines so it should be possible.

Nice review ~ I ordered a 10w version. Excited to get it. Question ~ the air filter hose that connects to the outside, is it a universal connector or is it brand specific ~ I was going to home brew an exhaust setup and wanted to utilize that hose but can’t find them. Haven’t looked too hard though. Tia

Thanks for the review. Did you get a roller with it to engrave cylindrical objects?

Unfortunately I did not.

Is there a way to get replacement filter material for the air cleaner? Or, should I buy a better air cleaner for this unit?
@BusterBeagle3D8 ай бұрын
Personally if you can't have this near a window I would opt for a more powerful unit. I'm not sure if they sell replacements or not.
