I'm a healthy teenager, so I'm not worried about me getting sick, I'm worried about me having the disease without realizing it and having no symptoms, then passing it on to vulnerable people who could possibly die from it. I mean, I live with my elderly nan, so I'm mostly worried about her, she pretends she isn't worried and is insisting that I stay with her instead of moving back in with my parents, but I can't help the anxiety that she could get it. The fresh air part doesn't really make that much sense, other than that a high humidity makes the viral droplets drop to the ground faster. The sun part is more interesting, as the sun is known to be the best naturally occurring disinfectant, for things like surfaces, if said surfaces are exposed to direct sunlight long enough. This doesn't replace proper hygiene, hand washing and hand sanitiser, but it's very handy to hang clothes out to dry (if you're not allergic to things like pollen).

This is excellent advice. I just want to add something extra: Everyone needs to be improving their hygiene right now but DO NOT ASSUME IT'S ALWAYS THAT EASY to people in the comments. Some neurodivergent people will be struggling due to things like executive dysfunction, difficulty changing habits, having triggers which might relate to cleanliness for example cleanliness related OCD(there are other types of OCD). Personally I have trouble keeping my things and room as clean as possible and contact from members of the family I cut off is triggering me, and having grown up with a mum who constantly cleaned and who was abusive towards me as well as a dad who hoarded and whose house would severely trigger my hayfever/dust allergies and was also abusive to us if we tried to clean it, I've ended up with pretty erratic energy for these sorts of things. This isn't an excuse because I wash my hands thoroughly including wrists every time before and after going out now, distance myself, don't use public transport and basically only go out for food. But when people are spreading advice, if you add too much beyond that you should keep in mind that your advice is not possible for everyone, and it will also be a very triggering time for some neurodivergent or mentally ill people.

As a chronically ill person who is also quite young (21) I’ve lived p much my entire life with people telling me to get over my disability (news flash, can’t do that since there’s literally no cure for cerebral palsy!), and now that coronavirus misinformation is spreading and the news cycle is being inundated with facts, people are suddenly panicking (and want me to validate their feelings) , and yet I’ve seen my able-bodied younger brother just treat this like it’s not that serious even though if he passed it to me, I could literally die b/c I also have asthma. I’m v happy you made this video, b/c people don’t really understand the severity of the situation in the States at all and continue to leave their houses for non-essential things.

Even though you’re talking about the virus (which is making me incredibly anxious and panicked), your voice is SO CALMING and you are so calm and collected, it’s making me feel much more relaxed. Now is the time to be kind to people, even if their emotional response to all this change is different than yours. If you don't understand why people are so anxious, try to put yourself in their shoes. If you see people coping with their fears through denial, try to find a compassionate way to explain the situation to them. What nice (socially distanced) things can you do for people in this trying time?

Hi there! I work at a small hardware store, and this morning we had a local * hospital * call us to see if we had face masks in stock. Thankfully we had a tiny collection of some extra R95 masks for them, but that's really concerning! Please don't buy any face masks if you don't NEED them! And chances are you don't. Similar things with hand sanitizer and gloves- they're useful, but regularly washing your hands and being careful about social distancing and what you touch is more important. Please leave these items for vulnerable populations, and only take what you need! If you're in an area that's starting to implement a shelter-at-home procedure, I know it's not heavily monitored, but take that seriously. Only get the essentials, and plan out your trip beforehand. Many stores will pack your items up and leave them at the front to expedite your visit, so give them a call beforehand! Thank you for reading, and stay safe! ♥️

The weirdest part of this is me being calm, even though I have severe anxiety... everyone suddenly acting like this kind of makes me feel better about managing my anxiety. I feel panicked almost constantly but I’m very good at managing panic attacks and keeping anxiety at bay with logic. Seeing people finally understand how it feels to be terrified all the time is just so odd, especially since I’ve always been told that anxiety was in my head and I could make it go away.

The heat myth really annoys me, I'm Brazilian, I live in Rio de Janeiro and a lot of people believe in it and so they go to bars or the beach because staying home in the heat sucks but we have more than 30 infected people (in my state) and because some aren't taking it seriously it's just going to get worse and I have to constantly tell people that we don't have evidence that heat can prevent the virus spread. I have high-risk parents and it's really tough to see friends acting like elderly people\high risk don't matter and shouldn't be protected.

It doesn't matter what temperature is outside, as long as you have direct contact with the infected person, you're still gonna get infected. The temperature only affects how long the virus can survive without the host.
@jamestor67004 жыл бұрын
people also think washing your hands with hot water kills germs, it does but you would need to use boiling water and at that point, why worry about getting germs off your skin when you won't have skin anyway?
@torstenwinkel21834 жыл бұрын
@@boldanabrasevic3020 that's not entirely true. Temperature HAS an effect on the spread of diseases, on different levels. I.e. the seasonal flu and the common cold are fare less prevalent in the summer months, but is seems warmer temperatures will NOT have a big effect on the spread of covid-19... sadly. Some reasons why warmer weather slows the spread of infections: People are not as tightly packed, but spread out a bit more, esp. outside. This makes it harder for the virus to get from person to person. Also: the warmer it is the faster some viruses (i. e. covid-19) will become inactive (they will "die" faster). Not by a lot, but only by a little. covid-19 dies fast if it dries out. So in droplets it will "survive" longer and in warm weather the droplets will dry faster, so the virus will die faster. Not by a lot but by a little bit.

My father is severely affected by COPD however and I know quite a few others who really have reason to worry. I very conciously made the decision not to try and get a pneumonia vascination as the serum is already running low here in Germany. I also don‘t hoard stuff I don‘t need while simultaniously trying to prepare for when they „lock us in“ or when I might get sick so I don‘t use ressources people worse off than me might need! just, be kind to yourself and others, and try to be selfreliant if you can so those who can‘t will not be left behind! also reach out to people a bit more often via technology; look out for those you love. just please be safe, for your own sake and others. I am no doctor, so you should probably consult yours, but I would tell you to either use hand sanitizer, or keep your hands under running water for a while. washing your hands do not kill the virus, but washes it down the drain. soap makes it easier, by washing away the oils that bacteria and viruses may cling to. so its not perfect, but its better than nothing, i guess? hand sanitizer though, should kill it. but again, I do not know your exact condition, and I am not a trained medical professional, so yeah.

They think so, this COVID-19 is different than another form of Coronavirus that people have been saying is on lysol containers as one of thr things it kills. They did tests and the Coronavirus that is the pandemic is the closest to the one found in bats, meaning somebody probably consumed a bat infected and spread it around to others. It's just a theory based on the similar makeup of the bat coronavirus and the COVID-19 now.

It started like a regular flu, except by week 3 (my immune system is very bad, so a normal flu takes about that time to get better) I was feeling dreadfully awful, even with medication. Try to tell my mom I wasn't feeling any better but since it was normal for me to be sick for that long she didn't take it that seriously. Then I went to the doctor and he told me my right lung was already half filled with liquid. Let me tell you, I didn't feel any shortage of breath, but I could feel myself dying and slownling drowning, which is very scary if you think about it, SO KEEP YOURSELF AND THE OTHERS SAFE!
