I’m in Montreal and know about the collapse of the Quebec City bridge. As in interesting fact for you - when engineering students graduate from university, they participate in the Iron Ring ceremony. Graduates receive a ring that is said to be made from steel from the collapsed bridge to remind them of their obligations and ethics of their profession. They wear the ring on their little finger of their dominant hand so when it drags on the paper when they work, they are reminded of its symbolism.

There is a legend that the early Iron Rings worn by Canadian Engineers came from the scrap from that bridge. I don't believe that is the case -- Stainless Steel (like the one I wear) lasts a lot longer and doesn't rust.

Just watching the videos causes them to make money. Liking the videos makes him money and he has all of what he makes in his store and at auctions. I don't think he needs anyone out there telling ppl to donate. This person is definitely enthusiastic about the channel. I'm just not sure that it's all being said in a way that's very nice. Crazy!!!

Bit of trivia. My brother in law designed the logo with the Chapman Kids for Chapman's ice-cream. In fact, when they still used the old boxes for their ice lollies, he used my then two year old daughter as the inspiration for the last kid on the end of the box. She still loves that and she's now 32.

Being born and lived in Quebec City. It was the longest cantilever bridge in the world in its day. It was also the only bridge in Quebec City that went across the St Lawrence River to the south shore and Levis. It has two lanes for cars and the CN now Via rail tract for the Quebec Montreal corridor . It was also the only bridge where you could cross after Montreal. Otherwise it was ferries. Actually if you go down east its the last bridge to span the St Lawrence river. The Pierre Laporte Bridge now takes the massive amounts of cars but the Quebec Bridge still works beautifully. I can remember it being continually painted. From one end to the other. First the orange paint then the dark green paint. Every summer for many years. Its a beautiful bridge and if you get the chance drive over it.

BUT we had to deal with it LOL She gave me a vase ugly old thing she told me to hold on to it, I was going to give it to charity. Then I was watching something on KZbin one day and noticed the same kind of glass. I mentioned it to the lady and sent her a picture of it, it's worth is $150-$500 she new what kind of glass it was and the German artist that made it.

And there's still the furnishings auction to look forward to. It would be awesome to have a Madame Rac momento. She left a lasting impression in my mind just from the Cadillac videos, but after the house series, she's firmly entrenched. But more than anything, I just hope the auctions make tons of money so Alex can forget the pain of having to arrange and pay for all those giant dumpsters.

Alex, grab Melissa's hair dryer and use it on the paint on the showcase. When it gets warm, you can peel it off like tape! Much easier than using chemicals. You'll actually see the paint "let go" as it gets warm enough to release. I use a razor knife to lift the edge, then just grab and rip. Won't harm the wood, and is much easier than trying to scrape and sand.

Hi Alex, hope you see this comment. I have been in the antiques business for a long time and have restored many pieces of Oak furniture over the years. Your showcase was most likely a baker's cake display case or maybe a chocolatier's showcase. The original screws on the front would have been round headed brass. However you restore it I'm sure it will look much better. Great videos. Wishing you and your family health and happiness.

Here in Washington we had the Tacoma Narrows bridge. It was known as Galloping Gertie by locals until it failed.

@@rebeccapettifer6553 yup when it got windy it would buck, but no one knew why or realized it would cause it to fail. It was a case of mechanical resonance.

Alex, I'm in interior Alaska and ice cream sales in the winter are better than in the summer. It seems crazy but it's true. You might want to rethink stocking that freezer case.......🙃

Quite so, Lynne. The Forth Bridge is a classic engineering design and you'd wonder how that could be changed to the Quebec debacle. Let's not mention the (original) Tay Bridge though..
