that used to be the case, but algorithms now are so advanced that modifying pitch or tempo without changing the other is easy and doesn’t degrade the audio quality.

Changing pitch independently from tempo will cause degredation in the audio quality, even with the best algorithms (serato pitch n time) much less the base algorithms most Daws use.. I still find the old method works best plus like someone said above, it's more honest having to work with the tempos you're limited to

Stretch mode ruins the sound of samples, it’s very audible with certain samples. Use «e3 generic» preferably, or the basic «auto»
