I’ve had constant pain for 15 years but since learning about TMS/PDP and Dan the Mindset Man they are moving all over the place and less intensity! I’m not fearful because it is all Perceived Danger Pain and nothing else! When I found out about TMS/PDP it was a hallelujah moment for me because it means I have HOPE! Hold on Pain Ends! One of my TMS symptoms was swollen fingers and finger nails. I would have so much pressure under my finger nails, extremely painful. It would stop me from playing guitar. They would change colour too. Butttt was just TMS, nothing scary or to be concerned. As Dan says shift your attention and remove the fear and get back to living.

I am also glad you covered this topic. My pain can go from bad to worse but it doesn't go away either. I've definitely been guilty of fear in the past and sometimes it rears its ugly head and I doubt but I've gotten very good at indifference. This particular symptom imperative started at a stressful time but for several months now everything in my life is wonderful, I'm extremely happy so I am completely perplexed at why the pain is still here.

Thanks for touching this. I’ve been dealing properly with other tms symptoms such as numbness and tingling, fatigue and the rest and the flare ups have been put under control eversince I started applying your teachings but lately I developed a new stomach issue which is trying to get the better of me because it’s completely new to me. Feeling constantly constipated, on and off pains and generally feeling and looking bloated down to the pelvic area. I ran a test sometime ago and nothing was found. I’m sure this is also TMS but the distractions are crazy. I’ll hold on and apply these principles and also record a win on this too. Thanks Dan for all you do.

Being in the stress response can and does cause stomach distress. When we are in fight or flight, our digestion is suppressed which can cause the symptoms you are experiencing. Stressing out about a stress caused issue will keep it going. Trust your body to return to balance. Stress less. Especially about these symptoms.

Hi Dan Thanks for the videos Similar to the below comment from Annie I have had constant back/side pain for approx 5 years. I also have a shoulder that is weak, numb and cracks. But this back pain, it’s mostly in my sides and is there every morning. When it’s bad it spreads up to my neck. My whole back and neck just feel mega tight and sore. I’ve had a few spasms recently because they’re so tight. I’m currently re-reading Healing Back Pain and I have been journaling for 16 days straight. I’d say my pain has improved by 10%. But then my brain says “well you always have good and bad patches” Not sure what else I should be doing..? It’s depressing being in pain everyday. When I have a “good” day, my mood is so much better. I listen to podcasts on the way to work everyday too..

I think it can be a feedback loop. Tension (coming from the brain) can actually cause "physical" symptoms, which reinforce the fear and so on. I believe this is the case with chronic pelvic pain (in my case especially), muscles that are severely tensed up become physically "injured" ie there is actual healing that needs to take place. Imagine if you held your arm fully contracted for a week, it would kill if you then tried to straighten it out. It doesn't mean your bicep is "broken", nor does it mean it's all "from the brain", that would be a physical symptom caused, technically, by the nervous system.
@PainFreeYou
@PainFreeYou Жыл бұрын
I had tight painful muscles for over a decade. In my experience and opinion, it was never an "injury". TMS does not injure us despite the amount of pain. Perceived danger explains it all to me: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qp-4Z354dttonMk

Sounds exactly like perceived danger pain. kzbin.info/www/bejne/qp-4Z354dttonMk That's great news. I highly doubt you keep re-injuring yourself. All of that graphic visualization of the cause of your pain is why you hurt so much. What if it's TMS / Perceived danger pain and nothing else? Do your best to stop imagining your nerve being cut by the disc. Clarity that your body is already okay is job #1 in recovery. I understand the sensations you described bc that was me 20+ years ago, it was a dull “constant”sensation (made worse with sitting) at that time they found absolutely nothing wrong with CT scans and MRIs, I did my own soothing with yoga and meditation without thinking that was calming my fear level… fast forward to 2015-2016, new MRI showed mild bulging disc… then Ortho said “well that’s it”.. I was like 🤔 well how come nothing was found 15+ years ago and I had the sensations, he was kinda rude..at that point sensation volume went pretty high.. I was almost positive, at that time-it was all TMS (I’d known about tms for years at that point), so I started to look for help on and off.. anyway, not to go into more of the hx of the sensations.. once I found Dan, and became consistent with the “consistency”, no pun intended, of calming the fear down and soothing, letting my brain know that there is nothing wrong with me, the sensations are almost gone -in that area, and when they appear.. I know what it is.. Dan and the membership community has been so helpful, I have no words to describe how grateful I am to have found him..🙏🏼 To give you an idea.. I’ve been walk/jogging again and will be completing a 5k for the first time ever..🙌🏼 Don’t give up! It takes loving ourselves, patience with the process, and letting go-of the need to fix, the fear of pain, and everything else that travels on the TMS wagon..😊 And definitely, like Dan says, I would refrain from describing the sensations with so many hurtful words, our brains really do listen..🧠🤓

I do love the messaging here. But it’s also gotten me into trouble. My TMS has lead to extremely tight muscles and guarding which then has turned into chronic diagnosed tendinitis. If I ignore the pain and go for a walk or other activity, it backfires and my tendons become far more inflamed and I’m worse off. And of course then the lack of activity drives up the TMS symptoms and more tightness, and thus an infinite spiral. Would appreciate some guidance here, and when to be careful with real tissue damage.

Pain going up as a result of activity is NOT evidence that you have damaged the body and increased inflammation. It's simply proof that your brain perceives the activity as dangerous. @@PainFreeYou Thank you for your help. I am still struggling and it is mainly linked to doubt and a lack of certainty. The issue is that it is a FACT (based on my own knowledge of the situation) that the perceived danger COULD still exist and seriously harm my career/reputation/relationship with family friends colleagues. The extent of the damage it could cause is also uncertain. From a factual, objective perspective I can’t eliminate the danger completely and therefore I can’t say for certain that I am completely safe. This is where I am falling short currently. It is difficult to give consistent messages of safety when it is a fact that at any moment I could not be ‘safe’ from the perceived danger. That is how I see things. Do you think it is possible to overcome this (with time and work)? I read the self assessment on your site and began to read Dr Sarno as recommended. I find it incredible that the notion of repressed emotions causing physical pain is so widely and unjustly jettisoned by general practitioners. I have noticed that when I tell people (inc doctors) about my symptoms they simply can’t comprehend the experience and can only relate it to a more moderate form of anxiety. My question is why is there so little exposure on TMS? Is it because the disorder is just so rare - you were the only channel I could find talking accurately about the symptoms I have been suffering from and only (in proportion to the western populations) a few thousand people watch your videos? Or is there another reason re not enough research/limited ability to ‘cure’ TMS with current meds etc? Sorry for the long-winded comment I’m 23 and have never been the type of guy to do this but this has peaked my interest. You are doing great seminal work and I’m extremely thankful for you and your videos. Jack

@@jackthomas996 We do not need universal safety in every aspect of life. If that were required, nobody would ever get well. Nobody. Knowing our body is not the cause and teaching the brain we are unconcerned about our body, feel safe with our emotions and are not troubled by our own thoughts is enough. The disorder is not rare at all. It's just that mainstream medicine is blind to it because it's not taught in medical school and you can't make money telling people there's nothing wrong with them. It is estimated that approximately 25% of people in the USA alone have some type of chronic pain or other chronic condition. The vast majority is created by their brains perceiving danger. You can't cure TMS with meds. The brain is creating the pain. We need to convince the brain we are not in danger so it turns off the pain. There is no pill to do that. That's an inside job.
