The secret to eating spicy Filipino dishes is to eat rice after every bite of the spicy food instead of drinking water to neutralize the spiciness. Water will just spread the chili spores all over your tongue to your mouth and throat. The rice on the other hand will act as a sponge by removing and absorbing the chili spores and make it easier to swallow the spice faster and lessening the burning sensation in your mouth.
@CharlieWayneAdventures2 жыл бұрын
Your explanation has to be the best advice so far on how to reduce the spiciness. Thank you for your time and being apart of the Channel.

Charlie, it's pleasing to see, you finish off almost every dish before starting the next one..except the last crispy tilapia which is very understandable because you are so full. A good example to everyone not to have habit of letting huge leftovers on each meal whatever pile of wealth you have. It hurts the less fortunate fellows seeing food wasted.

This is not like Japan, were there terms for hundreds of things that are uniquely Japanese.

Charlie, the way most of us Filipino eat our dishes is to have a little bit of 2-3 dish in a spoon in one bite. We love to have that different combination of taste in our palate. The tilapia, laing (vegetable in coconut milk), and the pork bicol express, are best to eat in combination. Have a bit of tilapia and top it with laing (with rice) in a single spoon serve. Then, a pork bicol express and laing in another spoon bite, and so on with different combination. That combination of taste is really amazing. We don’t normally finishes one dish after another. It’s a bit of combination of 2-3 dish in a single bite hehehe. This is mostly preferred if one dish is a bit salty, and the other is a bit sweet, so we tend to combine it to balance the taste.
@CharlieWayneAdventures2 жыл бұрын
Salamat for the detailed explanation, I will try it this way. Its lot different than we eat in America, but I am very willing to try. Thanks again for your time to share. :)

You can ask to "take-out" the food you haven't finished. You can give it to those living on the streets or finish it off when you're hungry again. You can do take-out in all food establishments in the Philippines. It's not considered disrespectful and it's expected if your ordered a lot and you're eating alone.

@@CharlieWayneAdventures Yeah . . It's customary for Filipinos to take home un-consumed food from gathering /parties especially if it was held in a restaurant and the buffet food has been paid for. Same in home parties. The host will force the guests to take home any food that was not consumed. During fiestas if one is walking in the neighborhood, homeowners will invite you in to have some food and you are NOT suppose to turn down the invitation.

And you're doing them a favor by not having leftovers thrown out and putting good food to waste. They may even be flattered that you saved some for later consumption. Cool vid!

Laing and tilapia are good combinations for rice. 😊😊
@CharlieWayneAdventures2 жыл бұрын
Yes 😊, I didn't get the try the Tilapia, I took it home for my family. But yes I can see now why rice would be good with the Laing. This Laing has smoked fish and the chili pepper. The smoked is kind of strong, but its good. Thanks for being apart of the Channel PO. :)

Hi Sir, it is actually SISIG (sea-sig) not SIG-SIG. And you don't have to finish everything, those servings are meant for sharing. You really did a mukbang haha If you have leftover foods it is fine to request from the restaurant to wrap it up for take home.

Thank you so much for helping me understand proper pronunciation, really thank you. ❤😃

Sisig which is super fake is something served on sizzling plates and is something for Drinking sessions. Its not a dish you eat with children or have dinner. But the media kept promoting this fake food and Filipinos chose to believe the lie.
