Hey Butch! I, and many others probably, am so proud of you! I was genuinely impressed how quickly you managed to go down into the Jellyshroom cave this time! There is serious progress! Now, I want to give you some tips or heads ups, condensed in this comment but you'll find many of the things I mention from others here aswell. This might be quite a long read, but I hope you do read it, as these are things that just might make your life easier or more enjoyable in the world of Subnautica: 1: Yes, you sadly missed some PDA's in the Degasi base, aswell as life pod 19. You can see it at 4:22 in the partially closed locker, then there is also one outside of the base, from the entrance of the base a bit north, on the ground, and finally, at 22:50 just above the life pod. 2: As a general advice, when searching for PDA's or data boxes, which unlocks very good new items, you should turn off the flash light. Both give off a type of blue-ish glow, so they're easier to find. 3: Generally, it is advised to read _everything_ you scan or PDA's you pick up. The PDA's usually give some nice lore or background info and enhance the worldbuilding. This could be nice for example to listen to some aduo logs after a stressful moment to calm a little bit down. Scanning stuff on the other hand has a purpose, your PDA knows a lot of shit. When reading about stuff you scanned, you can skip the educational long texts and go to the bottom of scanned stuff, there is always a line that says "Assessment:" and tells you all you need to know. Three examples: Acid Mushroom - Assessment: Inedible - Acid has applications in battery fabrication Bulbo Tree - Assessment: Edible, high water content Shale Outcrop: Assessment: Gold, lithium and diamond source 4: Regarding plants: By slashing plants (wether underwater or above water) with your knife, you get plantable samples. You can create underwater growbeds for planting underwater plants, especially useful ones like the gel sac, acid mushroom, creepvine seed clusters (the yellow things, so they grow a creepvine with new creepvine seed clusters) and other things you might encounter that could be useful for crafting, but also decorational ones are possible. Just slash some plants that appear with a name if you want to plant them! 5: In regards to the point before, I'd also recommend you make another trip to the island with the bases (the island to the south). There are a lot of beautiful decorational plants you can gather, aswell as a fern that is only found in one of the bases on top of the hills. Collect some and plant them in your planters inside your base! Especially watch out for a Bulbo Tree, Marblemelon and chinese potato. Not only do two of those three look amazing for inside your base, they are also very useful (remember, scan them and read their assesment!). If you decide to do that trip, I recommend to pack your seamoth with two or three storage modules and leave your and the seamoths inventory almost empty, as some plants take up 2x2 (4) slots of inventory. 6: The water filtration machine does take quite a bit of energy. If it's taking to much, you can temporarily deconstruct it for 1% to let your power regenerate. Speaking of regenerating power: Your bioreactor is not producing energy. You need to feed it organic matter, no matter what type. Can be a plant, a fish, a mushroom, just put something in. Best paired with a growbed in the same room with a plant of your choice that you only use to fuel the reactor. 7: A lot of the time, wrecks and life pods have stuff scattered around that you can scan for blueprint. You might have missed some stuff at the Degasi base, but keep that in mind for future visits at other lifepods ands wrecks! 8: General advice: A lot of fish that are hostile can be deterred with a slash of the knife, but the Stasis rifle is also useful. To add to that: A lot of them aren't really that dangerous to begin with, especially the "smaller" ones: They are hostile, yes, and might attack you, but in general can be disregarded. Beware of the squidlike looking things with a head on it tho, they suck ass. If you read it this far, I thank you for your patience, it truly means something to me, as I enjoy watching you play this game and becoming more brave each episode. Hope you do well and I can't wait to see you in the next episode. Stay brave, champ! Edit: I also noticed your description says this is part 9, even though this should be part 10 now?

I won't lie - Butch's ability to miss PDAs that are right in his face sometimes is downright frustrating. I think it shows how tuned his brain is to look for *threats*, though, but especially since he's asked for no spoilers, he really should teach himself to 'hone in' on the blue glow. And to play the PDAs too - most of them can play the voice recording in the background while you continue to play, and some of those recordings are really fun to listen to, especially Maida's. She's so bad-ass it's hilarious.

it's a good idea to make some grow beds for various plants, both underwater and indoors/above water. You can plant a lot of very useful things which are otherwise hard to get if you need more. For example bulbo trees or gel sacks, or if your base is further away from the starting area, creepvine and acid mushrooms
@arkhamcreed4326 Жыл бұрын
Okay Butch, here is a veteran resource farming tip. If you know you're going to need some sort of plant based resource (gel sacks, deep shrooms, blood oil, ect), build an exterior grow bed at your base and plant the ones you find. With most, once planted, you can attack them with your knife to get seeds. One gel sack gets about four seeds before its fully destroyed, those grow into four more sacks, so that's sixteen seeds...you get the point. With a little patience you can turn one scavenged gel sack into a garden of over thirty of them per grow bed. Also; you can eat them in an emergency. Also you missed another scannable item in the jelly shroom cave. And sometimes people put things in lockers.

Probably the biggest tip I can offer: If there aren't hostile fish near you, you're fine. They have strict spawn leashes. For the longest time I was super scared in this game because I always feared that the leviathans could room quite freely. Thankfully they can't (although you can get a mod that makes it possible, if you're insane). Now you may often get jumpscared by little biter fish and whatnot... but yeah, if you don't see a big fish nearby, you're 1000% safe. I would say the Bonesharks are the most annoying and have the most roaming freedom, but even then they stick to their biome. These are the guys you saw in the spiky mountain area where you found Markiplier. Still missed the PDA at Degasi base, god I hate poking near spoiler territory... but that's an important PDA lol. Blue light is your friend! 24:03 missed a PDA and a blueprint.

Tip. Get the alien containment, then stack 3 multipurpose rooms ( or more ) on top on eachother, and put the alien containment in each room. It will become one big tank ( remember to put a hatch on it ). Then go to the Jellyshroom Cave and get as many Oculus ( looks like a Peeper with a pink eye ) and put em in the alien containment. They will breed and you can use em for bioreactor fuel, one Oculus will give 630 power. Also go to the first island you went to, to get melons and chinese potatos ( they give both food and water ). The nuclear reactor is better, but you need uranium for that. Good luck.

Subnautica really is the only game that is scary and beautiful at the same time. It is a very unique experience, even without any phobias, and I‘d wish I could experience that again.

You can grow your own gel sacks if you make a growbed outside. You need to knife the gelsacks to get seeds

Butch, your composure and confidence when going back into the degasi jellyshroom base was truly inspiring 👍

Is that still smoke coming out of his life pod.? Lol.. Hit plants with knife for seedlings. Including gel sacs allowing farm-ability. Possibly a bit late now.

Hey man, I really enjoy the series. I got a milder case of the same phobia, so I can relate to anything in these videos :D I got through it, and so can you! I believe in you! And a little tip: Eat/drink if you're at 99% food/water, because then the meter will fill up beyond 100%. When you're above 100% you can't fill it anymore though. But you can max it to like 130+ if you eat/drink at 99%.

Thank you, this is exactly what i needed now. Just saved person dying in their sleep (it’s my job). And this is exactly what i need to calm down afterwards, watching someone else having a terrible time. I will eat tacos and drink monster while i watch your suffering.

Clues for ButchX3: They are not Lying - You missed a PDA at the 1st underwater Degassi Base (you need it for the 2nd one), located first round room at entrance, open locker with door slightly ajar, top shelf - Basically in SN all items that glow or are green are for you, including the databox at lifepod 19 you missed behind the pod. Next: Get used to operating in the dark at the shallow levels, use it as training. Why? No light gets to the deeper levels where no light reaches (like in RL) so when you go deep, there is No Light. Also: Use exterior grow bed to never run out of Aerogel ever again, plant one then whack it with your knife (gives 4 seeds) that you can then plant. GJ Getting this far but don't get used to it, being cheeky will kill you like it did me. Just some advice.

By the way, the sparse reef which you were scared of in this video with life pod 19 it has little to no creatures or fish, and there’s a lot more gel sacks and Rubys

You really forgot a PDA in the degasi habitat, we can see it in your video at 4:21 minutes, it is left to the water filtration machine

Keep it up! Love seeing you grow through your experiences. Remember : 1) Most of the living creatures are not hostile and half of those that are can be handled with a knife and/or the stasis rifle. 2) If you can muster the courage to stay out of your vehicle a little longer and look around, it will be worth your while. 3) The prawn suit = Spiderman :)

Great to see you back at it! You remind me so much of myself during my first 2nd and 3rd playthrough. Constantly battling with myself just to go the next 20m deeper! Keep it up bud!!

Hi my dude about the scanner room the camera drones you can make are really helpful for scouting ahead into scary areas. They have a limited range but are well worth it.

upgraded late-game prawnsuit (without spoiling anything) makes me feel comfortable enough to go anywhere in game fairly quickly with the right strats, sometimes i don't even bother bringing my cyclops to end game destinations because the prawnsuit upgrades make it so overpowered! i throw myself around like a high-speed slingshot to get places :D it's very fun

You can do pretty much anything with a prawn suit, jump jets upgrade, storage upgrade, depth upgrade, grapple arm, and drill arm are really all you need. You can also kick a reapers ass with the suit and those upgrades. Also can swing like spiderman.

Tip 1 : Scan new materials that you find like the gel sacks and rubies so that you can scan them with the scanner room (Hence the name: scanner room, because you can find stuff that you have scanned with it) Tip 2 : In some of the wrecks you can find essential prawn suit upgrades such as: a grappling arm (basically required), the jump jets (actually required) and more. You can also find power cell chargers there. Tip 3 : The place you saw after the mushroom forests was called the blood kelp zone which houses important recourses and entrances to other places. After that are a few more biomes including the sea treaders path which gives infinite diamonds, gold and lithium and also THE VOID. Don’t go there. It has no bottom and has ADULT ghost leviathans which are very not nice Tip 4 : You can slice the gel sacks and other plant-like materials to get a few spores per plant. When you plant those spores each one of them grows and is ready to harvest. Harvest them or repeat the procedure and maybe you can fill all the wall planters you put in your base 👍🏼 Final tip : You can find ALL of the cyclops hull fragments on the ground of the mushroom forests. When you get all 3 of the cyclops engine, hull and bridge fragments, you can get the cyclops. The cyclops is like base in a ship. You can dock a vehicle in it and it has like 6 lockers in the bottom floor of it. You can also use your habitat builder to build stuff in it. Like so ButcherX3 sees this 👍🏼

Plant the gel sacs in a exterior growbed. You can put the growbed on top of a foundation. When they are grown you can slice them with your knife and then replant more of them.
@bigcheese9087 Жыл бұрын
You can make an exterior growbed to grow aerogel, creepvine, mushroom and such, just hit them with your knife and plant the seeds
