Butch, Not all the logs are important to read. Here's a primer: The Codes and Clues section section should be read and sometimes reread. You cannot finish the game without this info. Always play crew logs or viewers will get cranky . You don't have to keep them open once they start. The Advanced Theories section are optional, but they are good if you interested in plot (like how is anything still alive on this planet?) Everything else is lore and can be skipped if you like.

Agreed, characters may or may not be mentioned, show up, or be directly referenced. Without listening to the logs, they are nobodies, with the logs, they are big plot points/characters. Subnautica doesn't have a whole lot of filler unless you care to read about every plant and creature's biology.

I can imagine that you're stressing thinking about going so deep, but if it makes you feel any better, your safety hasn't been found at the surface for a long time now. You get air from your base and your vehicles. You bring safety with you when you explore, so the surface doesn't matter as much as it does in the early game.
@shepard1395 Жыл бұрын
One of the joys of Subnautica is that there is so much to do outside of pursuing the main story. Gathering resources, exploring, base building: it's all incredibly fun and equally as fun to watch others experiencing joy with the same things. You don't always have to go rushing into the jaws of a leviathan for fun content. You've made amazing progress and it makes me happy to see how you've made your base your home and even taught me some things about the game along the way. Amazing video as always!

Butch, I've been watching these videos for a while now. Not everyone has the courage to face their fears repeatedly, even with sufficient motivation (running a youtube channel). Most of the fears I've faced pale in comparison to yours. Even the first time I did a lot of public speaking, my body didn't tense up and react the way you did first getting into Subnautica. Facing your fears in a public setting is even more of a challenge. Cheers for having the courage and tenacity to keep at it and motivate others to do the same.

Helpful tips for you: 🔻turn off the engine for the cyclops when parked/not moving! You waste a lot of power/energy every time you leave it on! 🔻don’t charge powercells or batteries in the cyclops, UNLESS you have some back-up powercells in your inventory OR are charging a bunch at your home base 🔻if you die on a trip while out in your cyclops, you’ll respawn back in your cyclops (why it’s called a Mobile Base) 🔻shield upgrade and fire suppression modules will help you in the cyclops, along with other modules like a vehicle repair module 🔻tbh the torpedos for both the seamoth and prawn are all underwhelming. 🔻best arms to use for the Prawn are the Grappling arm and the Drill arm. Both are definite MUST HAVES, plus the grappling arm stops you from falling PLUS gets you great speed horizontally and vertically (so much so that you might accidentally fall through the map, so be careful/wary about and save often!) 🔻jump jet module, hull reinforcement, depth module (obviously), and one other. I forgot what it was… all are great fro the prawn suit 🔻storage module(s) for the prawn just expand the prawn’s normal storage capacity (not entirely worth it much, but you do you, I usually just use storage modules on a second seamoth for lots of transportation) 🔻Hull reinforcement, depth, sonar, and and perimeter defense modules are overall the BEST modules for the Seamoth for going deeper, and I mean DEEP. Cuz there are definite places that you WILL NOT BE ABLE TO SEE, and stuff in the dark you WILL need to see. 🔻btw, you will //NEED// to go back to the first jellyshroom Degasi Base, and find the SINGLE most important PDA there! In the first room you go into, there is a locker, and on the very top shelf of the locker is a PDA that’s very important - You are being so big and brave about all this and everything that’s coming your way! I’m sure you’ll do even better in these new areas!! I believe in you!!! 🤗💞

And you’ve probably already noticed that resources picked up with the Prawn are deposited into its storage bin instead of your inventory, and the same is true with the drill. Another must-have upgrade for the Prawn is the jump jet booster, which makes the jetpack more than twice as powerful.

Hey Butch, you can add sections in your base and create rooms with automatic doors. You need to use the habitat builder for it.

Tip at driving the submarine. You can use the camera and drive at the same time.

The cyclops scanner thing to the right only picks up threats like dangerous leviathans. That’s why reefbacks don’t show up on there, they’re harmless.

I think you already found the black box data the first time you were in the Aurora, by diving down into a passage in the prawn suit room. Sometimes the PDA info triggers at weird times; in this case long after you found the thing.
