Bro welcome to my life, had a tarantula jump on my arm at a friends house (it was his pet I didn't know he had, it was defanged and all) but since then I have been terrified of spiders, I either run or demolish it under my foot idc. When I saw the cave cralwers for the first time I stasis rifled them and ran into the gun
@Yamyatos Жыл бұрын
@@theapproachingstorm2133 A bit off-topic; Im arachnophobe aswell (got a bit better tho), but when i read "defanged" i wasnt sure i read right. Spiders need their fangs to eat.. like.. why is anybody who wants to keep them as a pet doing that. If they cant feed themselves you basically have to force-feed them, which quite frankly seems like the objectively worse option if you are worried enough about the damn thing to have her fangs removed. Like, i wouldnt mind dropping a roach into a tarantula terrarium for it to feed on.. but taking it into my hand and feeding it with a pipet or smth? Yikes T_T Reminds me of people getting birds to cut their wings so they cant fly anymore.. some people just shouldnt keep pets.

@PragmaticTornado Жыл бұрын
@@Yamyatos Yeah, that kind of thing really upsets me. I hate spiders above just about anything, but I'd never defang one if I was somehow forced to keep it. I do however keep a snake, and I'd rather get bit a thousand times (obviously non-venomous) than defang him. Edit: a quick Google search reveals that Tarantula fangs grow back, so unless the owner was particularly psychotic, it probably wasn't defanged.
@Yamyatos Жыл бұрын
@@PragmaticTornado True. Cant speak about tarantulas specifically too much, but i used to own a lot of different crustacians. To my knowledge pretty much anything with an external exoskeleton that molts to grow can grow back pretty much any part of their body, as long as they can survive as long as it takes to grow it back. But it's also important to mention that for adult specimen molting doesnt happen very frequently anymore. Young individuals constantly molt to grow, but for adult ones there is more risk than reward (you can lose body parts in the process, become defenseless in the process, and are soft for the next 2 days or so, making you vulnerable). If i remember correctly most large crayfish i owned took a month or two to molt once in adulthood. And molting doesnt just magically regenerate the full body. It grows back a smaller and weaker version of the lost limb, and it can take several molts to more-or-less fully regenerate a lost body part. So yeah, defanging isnt permanent.. which also means people who want a defanged tarantula have to frequently torture the poor thing by removing the fangs again. While we are at it, why not remove the legs too? They too grow back after all lol. It's just a cruel. Why get a tarantula that cant hunt anymore. Why own a bird to make it unable to fly. Why own cats and remove their claws. Let's just get a hedgehog and rip out its spikes next.. well im sure somebody probably did that too :/

Butch, running out of water very quickly while running around: *panic* The fifty bulbo trees on the island, containing high water content that you can eat: *am I a joke to you??* - Loving the delicious content! It’s always a delight to see you trek through everything and being totally big and brave! - Water tips: 🔻bulbo trees are everywhere on both islands for a reason. Best to plant in your base, but only if you are in a quick pinch! Also you can plant them even if they’re rotting or decomposing. They are good for water especially if you feel stuck in a cave. 🔻water filtration system gives you salt (best for curing food, which never ever goes bad) and a large filtered water (H2O: +50, rather than a standard filtered water giving +20). Filling a section of your base with a whole bunch would set you up for a long time, but usually one filter will get you through each day. 🔻but since you haven’t even remotely gone to the areas that have the resources to make what you need to make one, you can use coral tube/coral plate samples and salt to make bleach, which in turn can make two (2) disinfected water bottles, both individually filling up +30 H2O per. Best used if you don’t want to keep hunting for bladderfish only to get 1/3 of what you could get from disinfected water, or 2/5 from a large filtered water. - Another small tip: 🔻some plants you WILL need to take with you and farm in outdoor growbeds, especially if they are far away, hard to find, or difficult to reach. Or… if you had alien containments (larger more sustainable aquariums where fish can breed more/faster for food/water/observation), you can place water plants in the growbeds there for harvesting & farming, right in the comfort of your own home!

Since you mentioned you liked plants and things like that, I would suggest using a bioreactor in your base for power, since it’s very easy to get fuel for it by farming plants.

Your series with Subnautica is going to be something to always look forward to, but I do hope you're not forcing yourself. As a long time Subnautica vet let me give you a little well meaning advice; scanner room. It's been said before, but you want to build one and then go into it's own dedicated fabricator and build the following: Scanner Room HUD upgrade, and four Range Upgrades. This will let you ping and track select resources (including wreaks, databoxes, and fragments) out to a huge distance and display their location on your hud so long as you're within the room's range. It will make finding resources easier. The biggest problem is those scanner range upgrades need Magnetite (two each), and right now the main place you'll be finding that is the Jellyshroom cave...the BOTTOM of the Jellyshroom cave, around 300m down. Good luck, you got this. Addendum: Also head back to the island and grab yourself some Lantern Fruit and Bulbo Tree seeds (attack the tree with your knife) to plant in your base. Both are edible and renewable resources. Lantern is high food, low water, and Bulbo is high water, low food. Plant a little garden and never have to worry about fishing for food ever again.
@chriswhittington5790 Жыл бұрын
Subnautica has one heck of a story to it if you're willing to read. Also if night time gives you trouble you can find beds to scan and build that will allow you to skip night. Some of the buildable item seem like they're just decorative, but they actually function. The coffee machine will give you coffee the vending machine will give you chips, any item you put in the trashcan will vanish after a little bit and so on.

Tiny no-spoiler tip: edible plants provide both food and water. You can even eat creepvine in an absolute emergency - it only gives you 2/2 point of food/water (but probably LOTS of fiber XD ). Fish you cook (including with your thermoblade) give you a tiny bit of fluid too, but 'cured' fish dehydrates you.

So it surprised me when this is first time I've seen someone describe their phobia in a way that I can completely understand. The "invisible wall", the feeling of nausea, the seemingly innocuous but extremely triggering stimuli, the paralysis, the utter frustration, yes even the scrotum tingle. Experienced it all. I completely empathize with you, and I admit it's reassuring to know my experience isn't entirely unique in its symptoms. I've seen many other subnautica playthroughs of people with some subtle thalassophobia, with the typical uneasiness or just plain spooky fear, but people should understand this is a shining example demonstrating what is real, true terror from an irrational physiology.

DONT GO FAR BEHIND IT OR TO THE LEFT OF IT! Trust me, if you don’t want to get a heart attack and shit your pants. DONT GO THERE. Go to the aurora on the left of it there’s an opening, you have 2 choices, one of a ground entry and an upper one, watch videos on KZbin on how to know where’s the entrance to the aurora surface and other cool stuff. But again, *DONT GO TO THE FAR LEFT OR BEHIND THE AURORA*. Have a nice one bud

I can't tell you how much I enjoy these videos. It's not just the sick amusement from watching your fear (hah, sorry), but it's thoroughly enjoyable watching you play the game. It's honestly a shame they're only 30 minutes long. Please consider releasing some extended cuts! And about the sonar, think about it this way; you're afraid when the ocean is vast and murky, but a quick blip of the sonar would show you that there's nothing there! ... most of the time. Can't wait until the next one!

It's been incredible to watch your growth over the course of this series. Maybe one day you'll have the courage to touch a Reefback (the big tentacle bois). It's one thing to have people tell you something is safe, but I feel personal experience is much more effective to overcome a fear.

Pro tip, the seamoth goes faster when moving in multiple directions, Angling your seamoth to be using W and D makes it faster you can also angle it to use up to 3 thrusters at a time

Hey. Some gardening tips. You can get seeds for plants from the islands. Some are even edible and are good sources of food. Just go there and knife every plant in sight. Some will give you seeds, some won’t. The grow beds are best for edible plants, the pots are better for decoration though you can still plant edibles in them. Found your videos on recommended and honestly, incredible bravery on your part for playing this game with your fears. I don’t have the phobia and even I got scared at certain parts.

LOL @ "My favorite color is blue..." Good call on choosing a bright color. Nothing worse than camouflaging your seamoth then getting out with the lights off

28:23 That jump scare made me jump! LOL On that final run home, I could see in the distance Lifepod 5 ... and another Seamoth? I must have missed when you build a second Seamoth.

Your play through of Subnautica has been my favorite (and I’ve watched dozens so far) because you’re the first person I’ve watched who actually feels how I feel when playing games like this. I know the location of just about every single thing in this game, but I still can’t physically play it myself, despite how much I love it. My body and brain just won’t let me, so I commend you and your bravery for pushing through despite how debilitating this phobia is for these games! I can’t imagine doing what you’re doing without the knowledge of what’s around you. Keep going, the story is more than worth it!

Hi butch! For starters, no underwater currents in subnautica, you can breathe. The emergences of lava are relatively dangerous areas without a reinforced suit, because the water is warmer there (up to 70°C), but above all, if you look closely, there are blocks that fly in the ejection of steam (if it touches you ouch! ouch!). With a minimum of caution (the seamoth fears nothing), you can approach them, because these are often areas with a lot of high-value minerals (gold, diamonds, rubies).. The whole area is a guyot so volcanic manifestations, you will see quite a few (events, hydrothermal vents, etc.) it is an important source of geothermal energy. lesonar shows you the relief out of the field of view but also the fish (big or small)

Compared with the begining, you made a lot of progress. Leaping out of the Seemoth for resources. Going in the jellymushroom cave. You shoud bee proud yourself. *Pats on the shoulders*

If you eat the Bulbo tree cuttings, they hydrate you quite well. No need to keep running home for water :D And maybe you can put those seeds in something like an indoor planter? Hmmm

If you do ever decide to explore the ship i would recommend taking a propulsion cannon and a laser cutter with you theres enough fragments in there to allow you to make a prawn suit and theres also a bed there which you can scan and build in your base which allows you to skip the night so you dont always have to wait for the night to be over

You should go to the Aurora ship now, you get some great things over there, I don’t want to spoil anything but it’s the next natural step!

Hit marblemellons with knife, get seeds, put in all those wall planters. Lantern fruit for the big planters. All the food you'll need. Same goes for many plants (underwater as well); hit them with a knife to get a seed.

I feel morally obliged to apologise for enjoying this series so much. Not specifically because you're suffering, but because you actually really are pushing into your discomfort. Hellava journey to go on with you. 🤘
