Waldmeister is a plant that is called woodruff or sweet woodruff in english. It is used as a medicinal plant in Europe, especially in German-speaking countries. Woodruff is also frequently used as a flavor, but in this case an artificial flavoring agent is used most of the time. The Latin name is Galium odoratum or Asperula odorata, but the last one rather refers to the blossom of the plant.

I think whoever sent these sweets comes from the eastern part of Germany because Bambina and Knusperflocken are from Eastern Germany and not well known/liked in the western parts.

Kudos for including East German sweets as well! As a kid growing up in GDR Bambina (the two flavours you have are quite new versions of the original one which is just regular brown milk chocolate filled with a lovely milky core) and Knusperflocken were my favourites. Nowadays I also love Knoppers. And anything from Haribo is always great.

The schokakola was very popular in the past, my grandfather loved them back in his Wehrmacht days.👍

Like father, like son. "Knusperflocken" both "like a bird, yeah flap, flap, flap" or flock, flock, flock🤣. And "THE CHOCOLATE BOOK" He had you cornered there 🤣

Imagine you would have the "Ahoj Brause" in your MRE. Your squad in the field drawing straws about who is getting what flavor, wouldn't that be fun?

The "proper" way how to drink Ahoi Brause is something you can't test with your son: As teens we used to pour the powder in our mouths and then wash it down with vodka. You should try that with one of the other packs - but with your wife instead of Jack :D

*Someone should send them some Austrian chocolate!* The "Handgeschöpfte Schokoladen" (Handmade Cholates) by Zotter are outstanding. They come in so many crazy flavours, like "Amalfi lemon and Sage marzipan", "Algae, Caramel, Pineapple" or "Cheese + Mango-Chutney". They have loads of more ordinary varieties too and they are fantastic! My favourites are “Toffee Coffee”, "Tausend Blätternougat" (Thousand Layers Nougat) and "Orange Liquor".

Based on Tyler's giggle, I knew Fisherman's Friend wasn't going to be Jack's fav.... i just want to know why you're trying to pass off a "Throat Lozenge" that "combats coughs, colds, sore throat and sniffles" as a MINT?! 😂
@evilcritter4 ай бұрын
I had to pause when I saw you claiming it was a mint, just to make sure it was what I thought it was. Oh my, let's see how this plays out...

Waldmeister or in english Woodruff is a type of bedstraw. It is very popular here and for some inexplicable reason even developed into a kind of “national flavor”. It's a taste that you can't really describe, but is somehow delicious. By the way, you can also simply “eat” the Ahoi Brause by tipping it onto your tongue. Fun fact about Hitschies it used to be called Hitschler, well I don't think I need to explain why it was renamed, but the company wanted to sell better internationally, that would definitely have been difficult with the name. Knopers is excellent when it comes out of the fridge, the waffle is still crispy, but the rest is even crispier. Well, someone forgot to send a variety of Kinderschokolade (chocolate company, I know there some products in the US but I heard from time to time that is taste a bit different to ours available here in germany), which is always very popular and always very high up on everyone's ranking.
