Love the idea of making garlands using buttons. I have loads of not very interesting buttons which I can make garlands for my back door. Thanks Jeri and best wishes for the New Year.🙏💕

If you put glue on the end of your thread it behaves more like a needle. I use fray check or crazy glue. Crazy glue works great. You can even trim the end to a point after its dried

Really cute. I have a ton of oddball shank buttons that aren't likely to get used for slow stitch projects because they don't lie flat. It might be fun to work out a way to make garland with them. Possibly a lightweight wire would work better for that, with a single twist between buttons? Hmmm....

Well done, yet another brilliant idea to not only for decoration but also a good use of buttons. The time you give towards the researching of your projects ensures you produce such attractive items. l am now going to go through my buttons to make a garland. Seasons greetings, take care

Great idea. Gonna try it! Green or silver or gold buttons would make great garlands for a holiday tree.

They sure would! I was thinking all one color of anything would be so fun! I have to talk to Brian about that, our buttons are still packaged in their original bags by color. He mixes them up. They are old from the 1980's. Great use of them! 💛💛💛

You are so clever,Jeri. That flipping would have drove me crazy. I can't wait to do this with my nieces. Great winter afternoon project with grandma's button tin!!!

I know, the flipping part took a little while! But, it's totally worth it, and I think your nieces will have a blast! 😊💛

I made garland for my small Christmas yrees using shirt buttons a few years ago. I used a needle and I believe a very thin hemp cord. I ended up staggering the buttons where one overlapped the other on the back to make them pleasing to me. My goal is to eventually make enough garland for our large tree which unfortunately hasn't been up for a few years. I dont have near as many large buttons but my great-grandmother had a bead curtain in the doorway where her pocket doors were and I love the idea of recreating that with buttons.

Hearts are my very favorite shape with a special meaning for me as well! I'll be interested to see what other shapes you come up with too. I'll be running a Valentine's Day hearts workshop for senior ladies and had already planned to use felt! We'll have buttons and beads, ribbons and trims, etc. to embellish them. I'll have to find your video on hearts. Thank you for sharing your creativity!

Great tutorial. You mentioned a YA YA? I looked that up and got not much. I am curious how you define that? Is it just your thing or is that term cultural in some way? Pretty sure I am spelling it wrong... I am assuming I am missing something. Lol

Hi, you're new here... Welcome! a Ya-ya is me chatting away about all sorts of things. If you take a look through my videos I started labeling them as Ya-Ya. I could be talking about anything and I usually do a show and tell of something. Thanks for being here, I hope you hang around! 💛
