That was phenomenal for an interview Andre, so in depth from Dan, unlike the Carrillo guy who needs to take notes on how to be informative. Just from that interview I'll consider using Diamond pistons in the future for an engine build. This is how you do great customer service! 👍

Incredible video! And, here I always believed that piston pin buttons were outdated '80s technology, but the moment he mentioned lowering and spreading the ring stack, it all made sense how running buttons in a modern piston can offer some real tangible benefits. Great argument in the benefits of a thicker ring pack as well, it's quite contrary to modern rhetoric to suggest such a thing, yet it still makes perfect sense in being rather application specific. It's not about jumping on the latest fads; rather it's more so about choosing the most beneficial options for your specific application from both the old school tricks to the modern technology.

It does also help to have a sporty 70's styled tash, just like the one modelled here. We do offer a combo deal comprising of tash, toupe and sideburns

I would’ve bought Diamond pistons but the only option available is low compression 9:1 for the ecoboost 3.5, I do like that they use a standard oiler ring package and not a thin oiler
@MafiaboysWorld5 жыл бұрын
I'd shoot him an email and see if he could custom make a set for the 3.5 with your preferred compression. 👍
@dj4monie5 жыл бұрын
@@MafiaboysWorld Diamond will make anything you want if you willing to pay for it. 9:1 by the way is very boost friendly as-is. While going up say two points if your running methanol or ethanol as a fuel would be nice, I say jack more boost into it and keep your timing reasonable, it will make serious power if done right.

Would you recommend shrink fitting the button in place?
@MassageWithKlay5 жыл бұрын
well that would be an awesome idea, although in race applications, the likelihood of the need to remove by the end of the season (if not before) is pretty high, and with shrink fitting, you'll then have to pretty much destroy something in order to pull them all apart again. That being said, having one shrink fitted and the other lock fitted, could be an awesome idea and a way to insure minimal tolerances which are easily maintained through heat cycles.

I think you would have other common issues if you were to use this style of piston in a boxer ( Subaru ) engine I can’t think of how you would install the wrist pin

Where did you get that from? A low silla piston is great for daily use and improved reliability. To drive on the street you really don't need double or triple the stock output do you? Ring packaging and thickness of rings is when you need to reach power levels that normal people don't need to visit. This usually means some form of competition because I really don't see the point of having 600-700 hp 4 cylinder engine and it NEVER SEES A RACE TRACK,
@limitlessbuilds5 жыл бұрын
Anthony Thomas I haven’t built a lot of turbo engines myself, was just always told to go forged when going street use. I will be building a 500hp k24 DD soon, and I wasn’t even considering these before this.

What electric vehicle are you driving and what sort of modifications are you doing to it? If you believe what you say there I assume you're one of the people leading the charge (dum, dum, psh!) when it comes to EV modifications =) Note we love EVs too - Taz.
@MassageWithKlay5 жыл бұрын
I still see electric as a very capped system, due to the fact that they are still limited in range. The sad thing is that the limitations are not because of electrical technology, but because of it being maintained as so.
