God I loved this reaction, trust me, you only got started on Kenton! As for the musicians, they're actually part of the main act, Kenton's just a guest. They do a project called "Stories" where they do acoustic covers of famous songs, Ryan Lerman (the guy on the weird guitar) is I think the band leader. The musicians are always top-tier and the guest vocalists are different from cover to cover, but they're always mind-blowingly good, the production is amazing, the recordings are BEAUTIFUL and it's never "fixed in post", which I treasure dearly. Funny thing is, it's all actually a lesser-known side-project(!) for them because their main project that steals the show and gets all the views is "Scary Pockets", which has the same concept and the same core members, but they mainly do funk/soul/R&B covers of famous songs. Scary Pockets have a huge following. As for Kenton, he's their frequent collaborator both on Scary Pockets and Stories, and lemme tell ya, he steals the show every.single.time (I think his cover of Beyoncé's Drunk in Love got the most attention because he KILLED it). I definitely recommend both Stories and Scary Pockets because there's not a vocalist there that wouldn't be a great candidate for your channel. I personally vote more Kenton Chen always! And I proposed another "Stories" cover in the poll this month, Beck Pete - Youngblood. She's absolutely amazing :) Next on your Kenton Chen journey, try Scary Pockets - Drunk in Love, it's a whole different side of him :)

Jess, As mentioned below, Check out Kenton channelling Aretha as part of the "Scary pockets" collective. If you need a mood boost for the day.... (Plus, bonus point for "naming that tune" by the drummer at the end!) kzbin.info/www/bejne/mKivnHxrfslpmaM

Jess, something's off with the volume, but thanks for this! Kenton seriously does deserve a whole reaction series on your channel. Everything I've seen from his seems absolutely amazing... I recommend his "I Can't Make You Love Me" cover :D

I'm glad you mentioned the volume. I just got a new TV so I'm still getting used to the average volume range. It definitely needs to be louder than my old tv, but I had to turn it to max volume for this video. Glad it wasn't just me!

Finally a reaction to Kenton, one of the best singers in the PMJ/Scary Pockets stable. I recommend his version of Halsey's "Closer" with PMJ. Includes fun doo-wop backing vocals. kzbin.info/www/bejne/oJbQmHyFds96etk This one is fun too.Singing not as "good" because it's more of a singspiel approach. kzbin.info/www/bejne/r5vMpqObYtSXiLM

I know Chen mostly from his work with Postmodern Jukebox. His covers of Closer by the Chainsmokers, and Closer by Nine Inch Nails (very different songs) are fabulous. Also love his part of a 4 part doo wop version of Hanson's MMMbop.

He's the guy from the MMMbop video?! I loved him!! He's the one who was switching between the lowest and highest parts. It was insane!

Yes, that's him. He started singing backup. He's backup vocals for Sara Niemetz on their Hey, Ya! Cover. Which I think was his first PMJ appearance.

The sound must be fixed, it sounds good on my iPone. There’s a definite difference in your volume and the performance, however.

The sound volume is too weak for my computer, I just hear a whispering.

I recently learned that for several years, Kenton Chen was a member of m-pact, an excellent a capella group.
