☝️ This is the easiest way to add sprinting in unreal engine. This sprinting tutorial is made in ue5 but also works for ue4. We work in the fps template, edit the input, character component and change the max walk speed with variables inside the blueprint editor.

a small tip: make it so that you can only sprint when going by checking the input axis value and only sprint when forward axis is greater than 0

Thanks mate! Was having a hard time clearing the obstacle course "game" from Unreal Sensei's UE5 tutorial video, so instead of changing the terrain and props, just added sprinting button to make character do some sick leaps lmao

when i sprint and lest go of shift i cant move normally i can only sprint. Edit: nvm i figured it out i just had to get rid of the walk speed variable and just put 600 in the box.

Follow these instructions: Edit > Project Settings > Input and look at your sprint key, if the Shift Box is ticked, untick it, the same thing happened to me and i just fixed it, hope it helps!
