Here is why I went with an OLDER Tesla Model Y 2022 instead of a 2023 model:
1) Price/Value: The current price of a new grey import is about 30% cheaper than if I were to buy the same new MY spec - from the way I see it, that's a good bargain and it offsets the average depreciation of a new car the moment you get the keys. Basically you're buying it post-new car depreciation.
2) Warranty: The dealer I bought it from included a 5 year warranty from an EV insurance company that basically covers all the essentials that I am comfortable taking the risk for.
3) Specs: Although the HK spec I bought doesn't have 100% of the features included in the Tesla (ie KZbin etc because China) but it has the essentials I need plus apparently the 2023 models will not have ultrasonic sensors anymore (only cameras) - which isn't as good.
4) We are currently in this sweet window of about 2 years (give or take) where everyone's talking and interested about EVs and Teslas. I'd like to personally take advantage of that window (enjoy the stares, the looks etc) before the markets are flooded with EVs and Teslas are basically the common car haha.

not smart at all. Why don't you list all the features that you lost by buying a gray market. Big deal you are the first driving a gray market Tesla.

Then breakdown for me oh wise one what is "smart" to you. Clearly you've not been paying attention when I mention that I loose out on HW4, KZbin and other apps features like Sentry display on my HK base model. Would it be nice to have? Of course. But is it a necessity? No. Is it worth waiting another 1 year give or take to get my Model Y? No.
