@garfieldblessesyouwithadri3944Күн бұрын
there's no system-wide parametric equalization on iphone, you need a third party app like neutron
@sharuraudio23 сағат бұрын
for iphone, you need to apply the equalization file to an external device like the Qudelix 5k

While I disagree with a lot of the stuff this guy says, what he's saying here about planar drivers (specifically HiFiMAN in this case) isn't some crazy outlandish take. Listener from The Headphone Show famously dislikes planars FOR THE EXACT SAME REASON SHARUR DOES. Let's not shit talk the guy when what he's saying isn't even wrong, guys. Seriously. Not everyone will be bothered by the squiglies that planars often have. If you don't good for you. It doesn't bother me much either. That doesn't mean he's wrong.

do not buy. it already has 7 puncture wounds due to my temper tantrums of being disappointed with it sounding 10 × better than hifiman susvara. but instead of returning it i decided it would be best to send it to my audiophile friend for a late xmas as a sick joke. *teehee ☺️

So you take some random measurement from the squig page and stumble onto conclusions? How do you know who measured it, which rig exactly was used, which smoothing, etc. etc. Not a very scientific approach, but you are still a freshman, so understandable.

it says on the squig what was used to measure it

While the dude over at Kuulokenurkka has some strange audio mysticism-bordering beliefs that are, of course, complete nonsense (seriously, read some of his reviews on his website. Certified PRaT enjoyer), as far as his measurements go he's solid. He uses a clone rig so there may be some variance compared to genuine G.R.A.S. rigs, but it's completely fine as far as comparing measurements on the same system is concerned. You can draw your own conclusions of course, but at least look into it yourself before doing so. Even if a bunch of stuff in his reviews should be ignored they're still a solid read for the parts that do matter.
@susokraut21 сағат бұрын
@@RNeeko I personally only belive measurements done by industry standard rigs and persons who know how to operate them, like oratory, Amir from ASR and more or less the headphone show.
@Kuulokenurkka20 сағат бұрын
@@RNeeko Yeah, you can trust my measurements as far as the accuracy of my rig goes. Others at Squiglink get very similar results with their clone rigs if they use the same pinna as I do. I also get your criticism especially when it comes to my older reviews. I think I have learned a lot in few years, and nowadays think that FR pretty much explains everything, but the final FR in your head might differ quite a lot compared to the measured FR. That's why I nowadays aim to explain how I hear the main FR characteristics every headphone model has. It might not change the world or anything, but I like writing and don't take too seriously if you still find me too subjective. I still want to keep my older reviews, so people can see where I come from. Btw, I liked the treble on Arya Unveiled a lot more than HE1000 Unveiled and almost any other open back Hifiman I have measured and listened. They have finally made a less bright headphone.
@RNeeko20 сағат бұрын
@Kuulokenurkka That's great to hear! I haven't checked your reviews in a while so I'll definitely check those out. Audio is inherently subjective due to physical differences as well as subjective preference so it totally makes sense to go into how you hear the sound. This is still viable information even if it won't be applicable for everyone. This is the best way to go about this. Subjective opinions are important, I just wasn't a big fan of some of the more subjectivist language in these older reviews.
