Excellent advice here from Lloyd Bumstead. My wife and I went to his bike shop first, but we had to learn. Lloyd let us test drive his electric bicycles. After that we looked for weeks on the internet and watched hours of KZbin reviews learning all we could. After all our looking at other bike shops we realized we were fortunate to live close to Bumstead's Bicycles. Lloyd special ordered my wife's electric bike and upgraded the seat, etc for a custom fit. It would be worth a long drive if you can find an established bike shop for that warm and fuzzy feeling with great advice.

Excellent advice. When I bought my Aventon Pace 500. Around 3 years ago. Not Many bike shops carried e-bikes. So I was tempted to buy my e-bike on Amazon. The last moment I changed my mind. So I bought it from Aventon. It cost Me, extra dollars. Due to the fact. That I had to take it to a local bike shop for installation. If I had todo it again. I would go to my nearest bike shop. To buy my e-bike. I live in the East Coast. Due to the fact that, there are those cheap e-bikes in the market. The ones that cause fires. I am not allowed to keep my bike in my apartment. I have to keep it in the back of the apartment. Due to these cheap bikes. That are hazardous to keep.

I was excited about the Aventon Aventure till I walked into 🚲 shop and the owner brought one out for me. I said " That's not a 🚲 that's a small Harley Hog battery powered. A small two wheel tank". I went with the Level 2. I would have a hard time getting the Aventure in/out of my 🏠.😅

I'll always buy from a bike shop. It supports the local business, and if something should go wrong, I know where to bring it for support.

the issue with buying in a bike shop, mostly you can''t get exactly what you want. if you can, then sure. also prices can be drastically high in a bikeshop. the advantage of a bike shop is they can help you find whats truly best for you, instead of what you might have thought was best for you.

Great point. Good luck getting the bike companies to agree on standards . I hope a charger manufacturer will make something available for bike batteries. I would buy one

Would you benefit from hiring an electrical engineer or partner with a company of them? Maybe hire someone working on their degree/certification. Whatever part is unavailable, they can find something of whatever spec or customize a solution. Motors, switches and wires have tonnes of fitting alternatives. Controllers are what I'd need help with, or whatever other part it's designed not to work with but an OEM replacement; which made some expensive popular eBikes useless when support for them was dropped.

Something to consider as more of these bikes start to fail thanks

You're not all that honest, If you were you would tell them about 90% of the E bikes with the one year warranty that's a big lie. I can't believe all of these so called dealers of the bikes not talking about the warranty, Talking about it being a big lie.... I would suggest anybody to get their bite through the male and put it together yourself..... That way you have a little bit of experience and feel for the bike that you're going to have to fix.... And fix along the roadside when it goes to break or get a flat tire. But here's the reality and listen closely if you buy it online or if you buy it from a dealer and it breaks and the dealer has to fix it either way, You're gonna pay for the parts and you're gonna pay for the labor... And here's what I found with my E bike..... It's closer to being a bike than a scooter..... There's a lot about a knee bike that is not designed to fly along the road like a scooter.... One example I go through tires like crazy.... Example number 2.... The front forks suspension forks we're out way too quick...... A bicycle is a bicycle.... It's designed to last if you pedal it..... When you put electric motor on a bicycle it's just too much to ask of the bicycle. Just keep in one thing in mind These bikes don't have warranties 90% of don't have warranties... I watch Abbott and dealers everyday on KZbin they never talk about it being impossible to get part..... To me that's despicable.

Buy your e bike at a e bike shop so you can get ripped off thousands of dollars and pay for all the markup and the stores rent and profit and all that good stuff or you can spend a couple days and do some research and buy a kit and make your own just by connecting a few cables and switching out the tire on the bike you already own and love with more power better performance for less than half the price of a pre-made store-bought piece of junk that is limited to 30 km and looks ridiculous
