I paid $1100 for a 10k Franco chain, about 5/6mm 30” diamond cut. I had it for ten years now, and wear it pretty often. No change in the color over time. It is darker when it hasn’t been cleaned in awhile, like any other gold purity. I love 10kt because it’s more durable than 14k, because it’s harder, which is not discussed in the video. Good info otherwise.
@dannygreen54773 жыл бұрын
A Franco is a SOLID sturdy chain anyway so, I own a 10kt yellow gold flat link for everyday wear and have a 14kt yellow gold 5mm plain Franco from JACJOJE and it is my fav chain and the best Franco link I have ever seen legit.
@fernandostudebaker58616 ай бұрын
no, you like 10k because you can afford it. has nothing to do with strength as 14k is more than strong enough. i wear a 5mm 22k chain and bracelet daily and thats way softer.
@SilvaManVids7 жыл бұрын
10k is great to start with, especially if you want to have a sturdy piece that will stand up to wear and tear. Not to mention the amount of different pieces you'll be able to cop for different looks at a cheaper price point. If you got the money to spend on the higher purity go for it! But there are pros and cons for everything. Wether it be 10k, 14k, 18k etc. Be happy and confident with what you have knowing your wearing something real as well as something of value. When you have the finances and opportunity, build up to what you would like to have!

I have worn a 10K chain that belonged to my grandfather. I have worn it every day for over 20 years, I sleep with it on, I shower and swim with it on, I sweat heavily with it on. My grandfather also obviously wore it for many years (20 to 30 years). It still looks brand new with zero corrosion and zero tarnish, it does not cause me any allergic reaction, which is something I get from sterling silver. I believe if it is good quality 10K gold, mixed with the correct metals (minimal nickel and copper), it will last a lifetime. I would say the main issue is whether this is an investment in the gold, or something you want to wear because it looks good and you like it. I do see the draw towards the more pure gold because the colour is much more intense. I also love how all my 10k rings and chains hardly have a scratch, while my 14K stuff does have many more noticeable scratches.

I have 10K gold, 14K gold and 18K gold jewellery pieces. Any gold jewellery could slightly turnish over time regardless of the gold percentage. Even if it turnished slightly over the years, it is so easy to clean it to restore the shine, so it really all comes down to what you can afford and prefer. I personally prefer 14K and 18K gold, but not because 10K gold jewellery would not last. It is because I like the richer colour of 14K and 18K yellow gold.

You're leaving out a MAJOR fact! A 14k piece of jewelry that's the EXACT SAME size and dimensions of a 10k piece will weigh much more done in 14k! So not only will you pay $7 more per gram, there will be more grams to pay for. The price difference is much larger than you are making it seem. Considering both 10k and 14k are identical in appearance...yet, the surface of the 10k piece is more scratch resistant...it may make sense to go with 10k more times then not.

@bestblackoutvideos3 жыл бұрын
@@SharkByteOfficial depending on how heavy your chain is, being 24k, it holds its weight the best,i would not slam it around, it definitely will dent, and scratch, it wont necessarily break, but COULD leave some noticeable damage compared to 10-14-18k,......... 24k is very malleable ,and soft.(relatively),STILL VERY HEAVY! i would not recommend getting any chain in 24k, because it is just too heavy, it is way heavier on the neck, a little bit uncomfortable, like a huge weight, be better off with 18k, if your going for purity, weight, but hey, it doesnt matter everybody has a preference, its all pretty durable if solid and not hollow, 10k is probably the most durable, less malleable, and does not FADE, even though it has less than half gold purity weight, it will never tarnish its still gold.
@SharkByteOfficial3 жыл бұрын
@@bestblackoutvideos its not as maleable as they make it seem, trust me. I even work with pure metals only. The dents would be very very minor and unnoticed and if anything add shine. Metal is never soft. I have seen 60 year old pure pieces with almost no damage. Yes the weight can be there if you get grams on grams of it, but why would you waste money on a poor investment like 18k, 14k, or 10k if you want a nice piece. Especially if it comes marked up so much that you would have to wait 20 years before you could even get a couple dollars back on resell or remelt from the low percentages of gold and weight. Theyre honestly just poor excuses made by big jewelry businesses to be able to sell people more lower quality pieces off of the same original weight from the pure ones. I've never had a 10k item turn black or change colors. I even own a 9k ring and it has never changed colors. My opinion, any gold item will hold up and last IF YOU TAKE CARE OF IT. Even silver will not tarnish if stored properly. Can real gold turn skin green? Yes it can! That's due to the acid on skin interacting with the gold. That doesn't mean the gold is fake and it doesn't mean it doesn't have enough gold content. My opinion, buy what you like and take care of it. Most jewelry stores don't sell by gram weight so you're overpaying anyways.

Nice video first of all....It is important to be confident in your preference in gold karat purchases.....I've owed 10 14 and 18kt gold...I've been wearing gold since a child and I'm now in my mid 40s and my preference is 10kt because of the durability...10kt doesn't scratch as easy when putting charms on it....14 and 18 are softer but less pure which is cool only in the resale market....I've owned a 10kt white gold 3mm solid franco with a 2 1/2 inch 3kt diamond cross for 18 years and it hasn't lost any luster at all....plus its 36 inches long so it tends to hit up against things when I bend down...its still beautiful and I still love my chain

10 kt will stand the test of time and should not ever lose its actual gold color, 10 and 14 both have chances of oxidation a.k.a tarnish which you can simply polish. 10 kt is still real solid gold and has scrap and pawnable value ,not just that but it's more durable and can outlast 14 kt because of its higher ratio of metals. So 10 kt is not only a more affordable option to own real gold it's more long lasting and lesser chances of fragility. I would be more concerned with people buying or investing in 1/20th, gold filled,gold plated, electro plate, hge or gold tone etc etc than 10 kt.
@chillbill85915 жыл бұрын
10k is better in my opinion when it comes to wearing chains. There more durable and damage less with having mixed alloys . I’ve owned this chain for 3 years and no tarnish.

18k - 24k is way too pure to wear as an everyday jewelry and isn’t really strong. Definitely prefer wearing 10k - 14k gold as an everyday jewelry piece that you can do basically anything with. After all, no matter the carat, the gold is still on there. It’s still gold.

The gold karat amount in a piece that is covered in diamonds or zirconia doesn't really matter to me, you really won't see the gold anyways so I would go with 10k, the cheaper option. If I were to get a piece with diamonds I would get a 14k or 18k piece, with CZ, it doesn't really matter, I wear both since the place i buy my crap at sells both and only offers CZ on certain pieces that do not have diamonds as an option, but I have a really small 20" 14k (also really thin) rope chain that I wear on the daily. I like to show the way I feel in a physical matter if you know what I mean

The base metals in 10K have been known to cause allergic reactions as well. Most people that think they have a "gold" allergy are actually experiencing a reaction to the nickel in 10K yellow (and some white golds). I feel like you're probably irritating a lot of overpriced merchants with these honest/informative videos, but you're making tons of loyal customers at the same time!
@Boudell6 жыл бұрын
That is not totally true. You need to stop going to Jewelers that mix their gold with nickel, and go to a good jeweler that mixes with platinum, palladium or silver instead. Then you wont have to worry about allergic reactions to nickel mixed jeweler. A bad jeweler will even mix 18k with nickel as well.
@dannygreen54773 жыл бұрын
But 4 karats for some reason eliminates that..??? I just think some of the gold people have is trash or maybe not real.
@oroyplata7526 Жыл бұрын
The only difference in 10,14,18 is the amount of gold in them. They have the same alloy just different amounts. If you have a reaction. To 10 then you will have the same in 18. Same alloys just different amounts.
@mcali-reviews55854 жыл бұрын
In the end 10k 14k 18k or 22k will never be 100% pure gold so why bullshit or compare gold purity also only 24k is pure gold and no one hardly buys it because its super expensive and can damage fast the statistics show the majority of people buy 14k or 10k

I have had a 10k chain for 5 years. Yes it has lost it's shine a bit and now looks brassy, the gold color is not as rich as my 14k chain I where every day. There is a difference between the two. Braden is right in saying SAVE up and go with 14k you won't regret it.
@TheBostonTom5 жыл бұрын
So I sent my chain out to have it buffed and it came back looking beautiful shiny and just like new again. That's the good thing about buying a hand made chain right from the person that made it in the first place. It's funny because I watch an interview on a famous jeweler that makes pieces for rappers and he said that 90% of the pieces are made from 10k gold. I was surprised to here that.

i have 3 chains, one with 10k rope 1.5mm, and close to 10 gram 10k jesus on cross, a solid 10k curb chain 20 inch 3mm, and a 3mm 14k gold rope 18in. all the 10k around my neck has outshined my 14k piece, and outlasted, and was cheaper, still has same great look, than day i bought them,, the 14k rope can look dull at times , my 10k chains barely do,, i wear them in shower every day, and even coming out the shower my 10k hits wayy harder than 14k,, it is preference, and price, thats all its about,, some people think 10k is cheapest lowest thing you can buy and it will not hold up to the elements like 14k and up, this is false, ive never seen a 10k piece fade or change color unless it was pure fools gold, its about weight, color, price, thats it, nothing wrong with 10k gold. people forget theres still markup close to 300 percent most jewelers, so it doesnt matter wich gold you buy , it is still overpriced, and as matter fact, factorys that make gold chains, actually plate gold over the finished product, to give it a better shine, that says right there that , people think plated gold is fake, not always, and the more pure the gold is, the duller it will be over time unless you regularly clean it, 10k is the way to go unless you just want to be a big ego goldhead, that thinks 10k is jewelrys ugly stepson.

In the UK 9ct gold is sold more than any other. I have some 9ct gold from the late 1800's early 1900's and if it starts to turn a different colour you just wash it in a little soapy water or run a gold polish cloth over it and it comes up like new. 14ct and 18ct gold changes colour in the exact same way, only 24ct gold is pure enough to stay bright without changing too much, 24ct gold gets dull over time, but looks even better. What you're saying in this video is misinformation and hopefully this will set the record straight.

I've Been In the Gold/Silver Game For 20 yrs now..I can't afford anything higher than 10k it will not tarnish or turn Black if yu keep it clean/Tooth brush dish Soap. I recommend if yu go with any size hollow or Thin chains/Ropes it should be no lower then 10k because yu'll need the stronger metals in it to keep it from breaking/Bending. hollow 14k up to 24k risk breaking or bending More if they aren't solid/thick/Heavy..
