When he went in the boot I'm surprised he didn't mention inspecting the spare wheel well as this can rot out quite badly. I've 4 of them and the only one to cause problems was one with an iffy history, a supposed 'barn find'. You live and learn, it's usually the toe rags who have owned them not the car that you need to be wary of.

That’s a fair point, I didn’t have any issues with my car, but I did see a couple noted on the MOT sheets of the other cars I was looking at that mentioned an issue

Great cars. Have 4 of them. A blue l reg a silver k reg supplied new to Lehmann brothers cost me 250 pounds a black k reg for 500 pounds and a white j reg.the blue ltd edition cost me 305 pounds. Apart from the white car all in excellent condition.very informative video many thanks. Rog.

Probably needing everything I’ve mentioned would be worst case scenario, in my experience, it’s not normally the case but wise to be prepared and to rule out any cars that need too much work.

I bought mine from Spain. 0 rust. 2.6 engine. 1990. For this year production, anything there to look out ? The was a light on after i drove it the SRS light came on.

Oil pressure needle should rise the top when driving but just drops slightly when at standstill.

The 2.3 (not 16v) is a 4 cylinder but was not taken in all markets i.e. UK but was fitted to W123 / W124s. Hence, some owners have retrofitted the 2.3 for a bit more power, I'm not aware it better or worse than the 2.0

I'm told that the 1.8 is better than the carb 2.0 it replaced but apparently the road tests of the time I've seen say the difference in drive (torque) are far better with the 2.0 injection, not sure as I haven't driven back to back. Also, check you can live with the manual box change quality. On all check the head-gasket signs.

@@Lot76CARS Yes a friend of mine had head gasket blown, and ultimately resulted in selling the car. I dont care about torque, I want to drive the car slowly and enjoy it, plus I can only afford the 1.8 so I dont care about sportline edition, wouldn't race this thing anyway with 110hp. Plus the circulation tax for 1.8 is 300 euro which is acceptable , 2.0 and up go upwards to 630-820 euros annually... Thanks for this amazing video.

I guess it depends if Nigeria is LHD or RHD, but import from USA or Europe if LHD. Probably big choice in Europe on Autoscout or other used car sites.

@@davidwilliemicah989diesel is now very out of fashion in Europe due to emissions and city bans for older diesels so a 2.5 diesel 190 with the 5 cylinder engine may be a very good option. Not the most powerful but very strong engines.

I think yes, based on its relative simplicity and good availability of parts. Old cars of course need maintenance and things wear out due to age but on the plus size depreciation is minimal.

I got mine in 2019 and use it as daily driver. It's not nearly in this good condition, I bought it for 1000 euros so it is what it is. Biggest problem is to find a mechanic who will work on your car. I had issue with too rich mixture and took me 2 months to find a mechanic to fix it after first one failed multiple times. Works fine since then.

That was the off road model with jacked up suspension. I had one years ago and for African roads it was great.
