We bought a Beechcraft Bonanza F33A sight unseen 500 miles awy from home. We got a great deal on this plane, and it is nicely modded with a turbo, tip tanks, garmin avionics, top prop, new paint, etc. Our good friend Owen (@FlyWithOwen) flew it home for the first time after sitting for a bit. Yes, we still don't have our licenses and are still training, but we couldn't pass it up!

My brother and I sold our completely updated and overhauled C177RG a little over a year ago and stepped up to a Bo A36. Loving it! When you’re ready to update your avionics, I’d highly recommend Advantage Aviation in Chino, CA. We just went all Garmin glass. Bonus was we Gained another 90lbs useful load getting rid of the old heavy gauges and vacuum system. Totally worth the expense.

Congratulations fellows on your purchase of a Beautiful nice F-33 turbo- normalized I0-520 Beechcraft Bonanza with the Tip tanks makes the plane more stable than without them and unfortunately the price is right and as the retail market prices have gone up and you both did the best opportunity to finding this one for keeping or flipping it for another One as well as the A-36TC . Congratulations to you all and work with Owen because he has a lot of Beechcraft hours.

Gorgeous airplane boys. I had a 1948 35 #1525. I flew it many years, and found only one airplane that was comparable,, and that was a Piper Comanche . These airplanes are super easy to fly and land, and very maneuverable. Learn all you can about it, and keep it in the best shape you can, and it will give you pleasure beyond your dreams. Remember, fly this all the way to the tie down, it needs your full attention until you're done flying. Good luck with her, I love it !

Weight on the wing in the form of tip tanks reduces the bending load at the wing root - Positive weight distribution due to lift bending the wing up countered by the weight at the end of the wing bending it down. Therefore you can have more internal weight bending the wing up even with additional fuel weight. Congrats on a great aircraft.

Many things about flying are counterintuitive, the learning curve is steep but you boys are wick-smart. Just listen to Owen. Cheap fuel is nice but you'll soon find it doesn't pay dividends to drag much extra fuel around with you and it creates other problems. A car is a tool, a plane is an instrument. This looks like a fine one. Beech makes some of the best. Enjoy! 👀👍😁

What problems does having extra fuel cause? If you plan for the weight I’d much rather have full tanks on an IFR trip and not need it in a GA plane than hit a strong headwind and have to make another fuel stop.
@stevenpdxedu
@stevenpdxedu 3 жыл бұрын
@@piperarrowpilot9325 There are of course pros and cons. You have a valid point. It really depends on where you're going, your plane, how often, how much useful load is left and what you're flying in or over. Notice I said (can) not will cause problems. The most important factor is PLANNING the right amount of fuel and not just flying around full all the time because fuel is cheaper here or there. Penny wise and pound foolish, that's more of what I meant but didn't want to get into the weeds. Of course. if you're made out of money then . . . who cares.
@piperarrowpilot9325
@piperarrowpilot9325 3 жыл бұрын
@@stevenpdxedu I get what you’re saying. I fly a lot of single pilot IFR and fuel is precious to be able to deviate around weather. I also fly into shorter runways and like you said you need to plan for that. When I go to FFA I plan to arrive half tanks so I can easily climb over the trees on a hot day. Is it worth it to fly an hour away to save $40 on fuel? Well you’re going to burn up that $40 savings on the way back to base so in that case no.

Be sure to run a weight and balance with full fuel and normal passenger load. Then run one with 3 hour fuel burn used. In a standard F33 without tip tanks the cg moves to the tail. The tips may help with that problem. That is why I sold my F33 and purchased a 1985 A36.

Looks like you have the bigger baggage door! Being in Texas is pretty good, but they shouldn’t have been doing run ups without flying it. The latest guidance is if you cannot fly the plane for an hour to get the oil temp up above 185 for 40 minutes or so, they could be introducing moisture and corrosion by doing their run ups. Why so low? I would have been 12,500 or more for cooler, and smother air! Best of luck with it! Looks like a sweet plane!

I believe the tip tanks on the bonanza increased the MTOW because all of the additional weight above the normal MTOW can be tip fuel only. This increases weight outboard on the wings actually reduces the bending load where the wing joins to the spar. They're a no brainer on the bonanza. Beautiful looking machine!
@mustardseedsociety
@mustardseedsociety 3 жыл бұрын
That was going to be darn near be my exact reply. But I was going to use the term wing bending moment. Some airplanes have a zero fuel weight limitation like for example the Piper Seneca. There's a maxium amount of payload you can put in, then any weight above that up to max weight has to be in fuel. On the surface it kind of sounds scary, but when you actually look at the numbers, even on a Seneca if you were to go to the zero fuel limit in payload, you're not going to fly very far. I think on the Seneca you can work the equation backwards - like for example always leave with 50% fuel and if you put payload in up to gross you'll be OK. If your payload takes you under, then you can add fuel from the 50% if you desire. But I was not aware about the increased gross weight with the tip tanks on the Bonanza - it makes lots of sense. But I'm guessing that fuel balance is much more critical with the tippies. And now I'm wondering if Bonanzas have zero fuel limitations - if anyone knows the answer that would be great - thanks

Scimitar prop perfect prop for this plane especially with the turbo set up pretty sure it’s the IO-520-UB just gotta say would go on American Bonanza Society and find a Beechcraft mechanics at my shop we see lots of neglected Beechcrafts from the landings gears it’s all out of rig and the spline shafts bent and sector gear chipped I would just say go to a reputable mechanic shop. I’m literally working on a A36TC at the moment and literally looks like your panel slight changes on the gamin units which the a36tc Im working on has a gtx345,430,530 and an garmin Audio panel. One thing that would be really cool to see on this plane would be an Electro Air EIS system.

Get a dual yoke. The throw over yokes are nice, but no go for flight instruction. I taught a doctor to fly his brand new A36. He started getting instruction in a Sundowner and then bought the A36. After about 20 hours, I convenced him to return to the Sundowner to finish his PPL. Once he got his PPL, he flew the A36 with with me along for about 30 more hours. He had over 100 hours before he felt he no longer needed a baby sitter.
