Buying a Project 1973 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ55 Iron Pig To Revive PT5: Adapted Ford Mustang Gas Tank

Im so excited to reveal some really cool upgrades that in recent weeks have taken my truck to the next level of its face lift. One of the most exciting things ive done was being able to adapted a 1968 Ford Mustang tank to get her drinking gas from her own supply instead of a small bottle.

Creative idea to mod a 1968 Mustang gas tank to work. Really surprised the Mustang sending unit worked as-is! I recently tried two different FJ60/62 speedo cables in my 1969 FJ55. They fit in my swapped 1987 t-case no problem but in the gauge side it was no good. I then tried to swap the old FJ55 end onto the FJ60 cable and thought that would work but the other me slipped too much. Finally just had a custom cable made but that was $$.

Yeah have to use what you have sometimes. Hard the worst luck trying to get a stock tank. Interesting. Must be a year thing on the speedo. I’m glad this one worked tho.

What a great list of accomplishments on this one. My wife’s dad has 2 55’s and we try and drive them every time we go visit.

Take a look at the Goodyear Wrangler Authority tires that Walmart is selling. I picked up a set for my 1968 FJ55. I also mounted them on ProComp 51 8x15 series rims. The tire size I selected was 31x-10.5R15.

Great job once again! Snow is starting to fly in my neck of the woods so things are gonna slow right down for me! I started replacing the busted in half transfer on my FJ55 only to find out the 2 doners i bought were cracked!
