I love this ritual, so to speak. We see the phases of: 1) I can finally afford it 2) the drive to the shop, with carefully selected tunes for the road. 3) the anticipation mounting as you step out of the car. 4) setting your ideas on the gear for the first time. 5) sales guy goes above and beyond to get you anything you need. And you chat about how wonderful music is. 6) the bastard brings out a vintage guitar which you can also afford. 7) loading both pieces into your car while the wife looms in the back of your mind.

What did you think of Gary Clark Jr.!?!? I guess I could afford one of the bigger amps, but probably wouldn't ever spend the money, anyway. I did get a small studio signature 35 recently, though, and it also sounds huge. there is a difference in sound quality vs. cheaper amps that as a cynic, I wouldn't have believed as being much more than hype. they sound enormous without having the kind of ugly flab at the bottom that fenders can get when pushed hard.

Is it illegal to play rock on an es-335 in the US? Back when the DJ'S and FEDs pulled the switch on rockabilly and rock'n roll in America in 1958 for 5 years, everybody but Buddy Holly had been playing Gretsch's, 335s and the like. And when the brits smuggled the music back to America in 1963, george harrision was playing a casino. But by '68 nearly everybody was playing a strat, tele or lp to this day. Illegal in America or maybe two-rock forbids music stores demoing their amps with 335s; there are (was) a half dozen hanging on the wall (and Peach Tree is in England not Atlanta GA USA).
