Oh man, I was so confused by the "make sure the tailgater deterrent system is topped off and working" part, I watched it 3 or 4 times. Then I googled it. Awesome.

One of the things i like to do is to smell the engine bay when the engine is hot to find signs of leaking coolant, oil, or ATF.

Consumer Reports is not a fan of rustproofing, it’s too easy to be applied incorrectly, the undercarriage spray rustproofing can actually trap water if there’s a gap anywhere.

I sure wish I had someone check my vehicle out like this. ...I ended up with a flood car, 2001 Nissan Pathfinder. Dealer's have ways of covering up things..like replacing the carpets...also the dealer had my vehicle loaded with Air Freshers to disguise any moldy smells that might be detected. There were so many red flags .....don't bother to inspect yourself...find a qualified mechanic to do it for you..unless you are a mechanic yourself.....thanks for posting ...too bad I didn't see before I purchased.

+davielove11 Thanks for your feedback. Doing your homework is essential when buying a used car. I have a feeling my first car was also a flood car. The carpets were soaking wet when I got it, I thought the shampoo hadn't dried. I pulled the carpet and found rust on the floor boards, obviously it had been soaked for a while. I had no issue with the car after cleaning everything up though.

Some of these steps were very tedious. If you have to do all of that you should go ahead and buy a brand new car.

+Keelyn Senegal lol. If you do all these steps you can save yourself tons on a used car.

Why you should buy the worst second hand car ? They're so many second hand on the market, you can chose on in good condition.
