Agreed... It's what made me the Seiko-fiend I am. Absolutely perfect proportions & styling.

That wavy bracelet is awesome, everything in skx is simply perfect. Design of skx inherited from 1978 model 7548, that’s why it so cool and ages like raw denim.

Seiko SKX is a must have in any collection, especially the non-modded ones. Lovely SKXs you got there Kirby and great video as always!

It certainly is Inspector! Proud to have these despite having new dive watches. They are just appealing.

I bought a used one off ebay for $180 which is slightly more than I paid for a old new stock a decade ago. Had it serviced and it runs like a top., Great watches.

dude get over that crap SKX IS AN ICON SIMPLY PUT.....
@johnwheat519910 ай бұрын
I don't get it, what is it with the SKX? It had a notoriously inaccurate movement, that didn't even wind or hack, a crappy printed dial, a poor quality aluminium bezel, which for the most part, didn't even line up, and who can forget that lousy bracelet which rattled like a skeleton in a biscuit tin. Granted it was cheap, and for good reason, it was cheaply made. Good riddance I say!

I think it’s mainly the design heritage of the watch, a lot of the older Seiko divers weren’t exactly great either (such as the 6309 turtle being a budget option back in the day). Just a no nonsense divers watch with a design language from decades of experience in the dive watch market. It’s definitely a piece of crap when compared to modern divers of the same price, but it was never meant to be a luxury product like watches are these days. The fact it’s the final Seiko dive watch design before the prospex line full of reissues also has its appeal.
@johnwheat519910 ай бұрын
@@PlatiLum I agree on "Heritage", Seiko are very capable, despite being a Japanese Multinational Electronics company, and not a dedicated watch manufacturer. They have made some truly innovative watches in the past, for example, the legendary 6139 chronograph, developed in the 60s. It was years ahead of it's time, and not only the best Seiko chronograph ever, it's one of the greatest chronographs ever made by anyone. The SKX despite it's faults, was definitely a bang for bucks offering, but it was never a credible dive watch. Yes it was good for a little snorkeling, but I very much doubt that any professional diver would have taken it seriously.
@NexDim.10 ай бұрын
@@johnwheat5199I don’t get how it’s not a credible dive watch? I guess you listed some points but they don’t make a ton of sense. I’m sure people used these diving in the late 90’s/early 2000’s.
@johnwheat519910 ай бұрын
@@NexDim. Thanks for your response. I can assure you with some certainty as a former navy diver, I never encountered anyone within the profession that chose an SKX as a utilitarian timepiece.

@michaelriera6277 0 seconds ago My SKXs share space with my Breitling Colt 41, Rolex Explorer, Hamilton Khaki King, Tissot Visodate, and a Tudor black BB58. My 007 ($180), 009 ($190) purchase new from Long Island Watch years ago will never leave my collection.
