The thing about zumiez is they up their prices so it’s more expensive than local shops
@Keegan_Co4 жыл бұрын
On certain things that may be true but on a lot of skate they are the set price from manufacturers..for ex. Rush abec 7 bearings are sold for $10.00 if you go to most local skate shops they are going to be priced at the same price or sometimes at $14-$15 when it comes to reds bearings the price for those used to be $17.95 but after covid they raised the price to $18.95 in order for the distributors to make more money since they lost a lot of money from closures and such...same thing happened with trucks and decks and for most places prices went up to offset the profit margins and keep people in business...but that being said zumiez also offers a discount for when you build a board that actually cuts the price down quite a bit sometimes now for local shops most of them stayed at the same price during the pandemic but once everything goes back to normal I see prices dropping for everyone and going back to normal hopefully 🤷♂️ but you are correct there are some things that are more expensive for sure

Superior are often overlooked/underrated. They are probably the best value standard wood board you can get. They are from the dsm/dwindle camp(almost, enjoi, darkstar, globe, blind, etc.) and as far as I can tell, they just don’t have pros so they pass that cost savings on to the consumer. Good boards, good shapes, good price

They said they were around for 7years and nobody in korea really skateboards, they mostly longboard. Overall the stuff I got from them was nice. The bearings are abec9s and the trucks are calibers which he said was a great brand. Dropped a nice $200 on the board and plan to spend more before leaving to help support that shop and hopefully get them to stock trick skateboards😁

Many years ago there was blanks, Team board and pro boards. Blanks everyones got in a pinch. But didn't have full plus in the middle. I'm not sure about wood glue (PVA) but I'm sure blanks where still resin. Team boards. Some people say it's a step up from blanks. I didn't like the team (logo) decks. I assume there different quality timber but and in the top and bottom of the press and stack. I never seen any with half plys like blanks. But there was something off about it. Pro modal (including pro stock logo boards) best shape and wood. mid press. Most time going into the cut and finish. And let chance of sitting on a loading dock or shipping container so less moisture or heat warping. Now days the companys like blind and darkside are doing team board at blank pricers. In Australia anyway. Blanks $60 - $80Aud Team logo $80 - $100Aud Pro stock $100 - $150Aud Tbh I'll skate anything. But like anything you get what you pay for. There is nothing wrong with cheap wood blanks. Alot of the time there rejected pro stock ie 1,2,6,7 in a press stack. Or have a ply gaps in the mild plys. But team logo boards are from the china press and tend to have different rock maple. And depending where it's printing will don't there could be shipped twice from China to America the be printed then say to the UK. And that's when boards feel soggy. All high end boards are pressed in Mexico or I think there is one press in the USA still. But there are 5 major board pressing factory and they press boards for the the top board company's. Keep skaters in jobs. Buy from skate shops.

The "new" way decks are made is with resin its lighter and creates a stronger bond in most cases so a lot of brands have switched to using that instead of Woodglue But you are correct pro decks are built exactly the same as team decks

7:16 this is very misleading, if you can then always buy from a local shop. Your local skate shop is run by skaters and buying from them will support the skating community. Zumiez is a corporate company and buying from them takes away from local skate shops which are small businesses that don’t make anywhere near as much money as zumiez. Also, usually people at actual skate shops have more knowledge about skateboarding than people that work at zumiez because a lot of people that work at zumiez barely actually skate. And local skate shops usually have a better selection of actual skate parts, zumiez has some boards, trucks, bearings, wheels, etc. but an actual shop usually has a much better selection, depending on where you go at least, zumiez has way more clothes usually though. Overall, buying from a local shop supports skateboarding, buying from zumiez supports a corporate company.
@Keegan_Co2 жыл бұрын
I agree with if you have local 100% support them because they need your business but if you don't have one and you have zumiez it's okay to support zumiez the money also supports the brand itself.. there's small board companies that get introduced to zumiez and take off just because they were put into zumiez first Also there's a few local board shop brands that are in zumiez as well which in turn helps that local businesses grow... not everyone really knows about this or thinks about this it's just about corporate hate but infact zumiez really does try to help the skate community and small brands... I was the SM of my store and 90% of my employees were knowledgeable in some way for skating and the skate culture.. I know not every store is like this and that does bum me out but there are a few that are run by local skaters.. just some food for thought! 🤷♂️ but again definitely support local if you have it that would be first priority

If its a specific release or a collaboration most of the time those are a limited release and once they're sold thats it..so it really depends 😅 i hope that helps answer your questions once I know what deck it is I can maybe help you a little further

I never bough at Zumiez, it doesn't exist in my country, but at least in the video, you don't show more than indy trucks, and that's what overtpriced the setup (119 $ is a little too much for a cheap board, indys are expensive), I don't know, but, if you put Bullet trucks, for example, they cost like the half as indys, and they're pretty good for a beginner. Again, I don't know wich trucks brands Zumiez have
@Keegan_Co3 жыл бұрын
When I built this board I was very limited due to covid im sure now you can go in and save an extra $10-$15 so it's possible to make it cheaper this was just the cheapest at the time
@IvanGarciaCastillo3 жыл бұрын
@@Keegan_Co Oh, yeah, I forgot about that... sure, I try to get a setup before christmast and was a nightmare! this is what I said, I didn't know what trucks you can get at that moment :S

Hey start skating now itll help lose weight! I actually gained a little bit of weight this year thanks to covid and everytime I skate I always feel a little bit better 😂
@SuperBilleh13694 жыл бұрын
@@Keegan_Co I figured it’d be a good workout. I’ll hafta look into getting a board and learning. I don’t know much about the skate scene in my city. Hopefully they’re LGBT friendly.

was wondering, cuz im new to skating, when u buy trucks, do they come in pairs or do u pay for 1 each?
@Keegan_Co4 жыл бұрын
You pay for 1 each sadly so your total for trucks should be around 40-50 bucks

I have that same deck Edit: it’s personally an amazing deck, but I’ve ridden some of my friends skateboards and I can tell their decks are better even when they are worn down

@Keegan_Co2 жыл бұрын
It depends on the brand honestly Are there a few brands you're thinking about?
@45spurt42 жыл бұрын
@@Keegan_Co yea dude for the pro boards def deathwish and baker, and as for the cheaper boards I honestly don’t know what brands r decent🐺, rn I just need a board that can last longer than a week😭😭

Dude are the complete skateboards the same good wood quality?
@Keegan_Co2 жыл бұрын
Some companies use wood glue and some use resin so it kind of depends on that..resin makes a stronger bong so it'll have more pop and last longer but for the most part the deck quality is about the same for completes
