We bought both of our contracts on Disney Cruises. The process was super easy and the DVC guides were great and did not pressure us to buy. We got all sorts of incentives and better pricing then if buying on land but this was over 10 years ago.

Welcome Home Sean! several years ago, we bought Grand Floridian while we were on a cruise ... we had just as lovely a process as buying at a park or resort

Sean, my first dive down the DVC rabbit hole was in Aulani in July 2019, where Dear-Wife and I took tour. The incentive was exactly the same: 20 "free" points when you buy 150, increasing incentive with the number of points purchased. So that is a 17% discount. They sell Aulani @ $188 per point, so your cost was $138.24 per point. $50 per point discount! Not too shabby!

Incentives for buying while on the Disney Cruise used to be a lot better back in the mid to late 2000's and early 2010's. Three of our four contracts we purchased while cruising just because the incentives were so much better than they ever offered on land. We have found the cruise incentives have been about the same as the land incentives for the last 6-7 years.

After rewatching and looking at the paper again, Yes, the point incentives are/were same on land. I took the "tour" last month at the Grand Californian for Aulani and they were/are offering you if you buy 170 points it would be the price of buying 150 points for the offer price of $28,200 instead of paying $31,960; 205 points it would be the price of 175 points for the offer price of $32,900 instead of $38,540 and so on.

[Scene: Chevy dealership] Sean: I've heard the Silverado has some reliability issues. I'm not sure about buying that truck. Chevy salesman: No reliability issues at all, I own one! Sean: Okay, I'll take two!

Resort Condominiums International (RCI) is one of the largest timeshare vacation exchange groups in the world. RCI does not manage any timeshare properties directly, but instead operates an exchange for owners of affiliated timeshare to trade their weeks for other exciting vacation opportunities.

My original contract was purchased on the Fantasy for AK. The notary was on-board, but that was Dec 2012. The benefit we were given was an August use year with a starting point total of double the yearly total for the first year that were active as soon as we disembarked. The only trick was you could only bank the yearly total of 160 points. Needless to say, we went to WDW twice that spring and once to HH. I wish we had split the points in two contracts mainly because I lost them in the divorce, but she could not afford the GF 50 points which still had a loan on it, so I still own that.

Hi, thanks for the great video! Can you say if this was a limited offer or can you get more points than you paid for in general by buying onboard?
@bodyloverz305 жыл бұрын
So if you could get a resale property for Aulani; at the original developer's subsidies maintenance fees, this would be the best deal in DVC, correct?
@kerricksasaki5 жыл бұрын
Correct! I bought such a contract.

Great show as always. Pete, you say cruises aren't worth using points on, did you use points? I hope you explain why they aren't a good use of points in an upcoming show. Thanks
@cwdefouw5 жыл бұрын
The reason most DVC owners say using points to go on cruises is not a good value becomes clear when you calculate the cash value of the accommodation (DVC Villa or Cruise) and divide it by the number of points required to get a dollar value for each point. For the actual DVC resorts your value will generally be somewhere in the $15.00 to $25.00+ range per point. For the cruises it will almost always be in the $6.00 to $8.00 range per point. It all depends on what value you are looking for. In the past we have done a lot of cruises using points and we didn't really care that we could get a better value at the DVC Resorts. Now, however, we would just rent out our points through a broker and get, at minimum, $14.00 in value for each point, then just use that cash to pay for the cruise. I hope that explains it a little bit anyway.

What would have been the closing costs with a single 170 point contract- $500, $1000, somewhere in between?
@bodyloverz305 жыл бұрын
I think Interval is better as you can do Atlantis in Nassau and Marriott Marbella, Spain.
@mikedonley12875 жыл бұрын
At one time, DVC did use II, but then they changed over RCI. I'd heard that Interval International wasn't up to Disney's standards. Don't know if that's true, but that's what we'd heard.
@mikedonley12875 жыл бұрын
Oddly enough, the Resort Condominium International sites that Disney allows us to see is not all RCI offers. Disney blanks out those places that aren't up to DVC standards
@bodyloverz305 жыл бұрын
@@mikedonley1287 But oddly, II's properties are better than RCI: Atlantis, Four Seasons, Marriott's, Westin, etc.
