Farmer on the Prairie is about my life on our central Illinois farm. My name is Seth and I am a young farmer with the desire to get things done and to keep the farm running smoothly. The farm is 740 row crop acres and 100 acres of pasture. We run about 100 grass-fed cattle and 1500 meat birds a year. Throughout my videos, you will get to know Dad, MommaD, and Sister. That cultivator that you were looking to buy will probably be for sale in the future because what the buyer that was bidding against you will probably take it home and use it for a few years and then decide that it won’t work for what he wants to use it for

Thanks for sharing I was watching that on Sullivan's auction couple weeks ago. I did buy a couple pieces out in Illinois and bring them back to Pennsylvania for organic ground this year. I can't wait to see how your year turns out with your crop. We just got done putting lime on our organic ground certified organic lime. Have a great weekend

When you bid on an item at auctions that are online you should bid your highest price you can afford and see where it goes from there

I thought you were farming in Kansas. I’m more northern IL. Go the route your going, it doesn’t seem like your going extreme, and keep an open mind about organic no till. I wish you were close. I have row mows, and weed zappers that I mostly use for custom work on non organic farms having a problem with resistant weeds.

How do you like your weed zapper? I am a non farmer on the Canadian prairies, just starting to look into grain farming. I had the same thought, with one of those weed zappers, you could do a lot of custom work for people who are conventional farming. Depending on the area, some farmers here have bad problems with herbicide resistant wild oats, and that could be a good solution. Have you had success with different techniques in organic no till, and what do you do to make it work? Thanks

Best way to play an auction is to bid right at the end, otherwise you are just bidding up the price. Set your price and if you win great, if not walk away and forget about it. Don't let an auction get the best of you. And remember, the auction house could put secret bidders in the game to get a higher price, that's part you have to deal with too.

100% agree I try to bid only 3 times..I have gotten items by bidding right at the end. The other person bidding didn't know some one bidded

Seth. In these auctions, if you win a bid of $1000, how much do you end up paying (ignore sales tax)? $1000? $1200? Blessings!
