After checking out Wat Lao Buddharam a Laotian Buddhist temple in San Diego, California we found out they live off of donated foods only so we decided to give them a little surprise.

Thank you for stopping by and making a video of this Wat Lao Buddhist Temple in San Diego. Those Animal statues are representing the 7 days of the week and using for the Lao New Year ceremony which is on April 13 of each year. Wha ever the 13 is on that day then they will decorate that animal and make the float and have Lao young beautiful riding on that as a princess. She represents the daughter of 4 heads gods from heaven to earth and washes her4 head godfathers to celebrate the Lao New Year. You can search on youtube for Lao new year in San Diego.

That is symbolic of a protector that evil red statue that you it’s not evil at all. The people go to temple giving sermons and food offerings to their love ones and the monks gives blessings to the people and those who passed away. Monks are like messengers from Buddha. The monks learned the teachings of the Buddha and teaches to the followers. Cambodian,Thai Laos some Indonesia has very similar mantras and teachings. There’s also another Buddhist temple in Linda Vista that has a head monk that is a Caucasian monk that will be able to help you out and explain to you guys in more details of Buddhism.

These Theravada monks are not allowed to touch money, so they don’t eat out at restaurants. They do ‘Alm Round’ with alm bowls in early morning, and lay people offer them food for the day (one meal/day, before noon). Kinda awkward to ask the monks what is more important to see than the main altar of their small temple. It helps to do some research before visiting Holy places….

Curiosity and spontaneity...great for life. We also love visiting interesting places on our roadtrips... ...Gautama B. (the Buddha) was born in India. Many Buddhist rituals and practices are influenced by Hinduism (close geo/culture). Bring balance to practice - avoid fanaticism or supertitions by lack of knowledge. True Buddhists do not worship deities or demigods as gods. Look into different sects of Buddhism. This seems to be a Laotian Theravada Buddhist Temple. Theravada (Southeast Asia) is more conservative and closely adheres to Buddha’s teachings (vs. Mahayana). We show respect when talk to monks by putting our palms together (in front of face or chest) and bow. Address monk as "Ajahn" or “Bbante”, a more general term meaning ‘Venerable sir’. Mindfulness - Good Intention is key; Monks don’t just chant for KZbin content. May us all find inner peace and true happiness! 😉
