Thanks for watching Joy! We couldn't agree with you anymore. At the time we film this the lot really wasn't worth much more than the house itself and even if you rebuilt you wouldn't recoup that. We're sure that with the market the way it is now it's definitely worth it to purchase and build new.

This is why those Dallas neighborhoods are still disgusting and run down like this...the people living there have no pride in their property or are just too poor or old to keep their houses maintained so the entire neighborhood gets run down and nobody wants to move there. Everyone says Dallas is beautiful, but this is the majority of what you see around Dallas outside of the multi-million dollar neighborhoods and it's really sad.

Next time check with the buyers lender to find out what kind of financing terms they have. An FHA lender would require the seller to do most of the wood rot and fungus repair. Then check with the bank offering the repo. If the original loan was an FHA they may be fine covering the repairs. What year was the build? Asbestos was used heavily pre 1970. So asbestos is not an issue in popcorn ceilings in later years. The the price of non-asbestos popcorn ceiling removal is cheap.

Jiexi Ai, Thanks for watching! To address your comment, yes we have! Just take a look at all of our videos and you'll see we have a variety of content related to architecture and construction. We don't shoot and edit one video of an entire renovation. That would be silly, we aren't HGTV, and renovating a home takes months of hard work. We also find it very important to show the process and highlight how things are done in architecture and construction! Have a great day!

Abenzuoo, thanks for watching, and we hope you enjoyed the video. Buying a house, especially a fixer upper, isn't an easy process. It can be drawn out, and you'll find more houses out there that don't make sense for you to buy and repair (investment wise), than you'll find that do make sense. A large part of the process of fixing up a house is finding the right one. This video (part #2) and part #1 are the first two videos in a episodic series of how we helped a friend renovate a house. We feel it is very important to show what we looked at before showing the house we ultimately renovated. It's also important to point out what we found wrong with the houses we looked at, what repairs would be needed, and why we chose to pass on those. That builds on a greater whole of the build, and solidifies why we as a team chose the house we did to work renovate. What you'd see on HGTV is not reality. You don't find your house after looking at the first one, and you sure don't fix it up in 30 minutes. You obviously just found our channel, as did most of our subscribers, so I invite you to subscribe and come along for the journey. Videos of the purchase and renovation will be coming out in the next two weeks or so, as they are edited. By the looks of your channel, you're a fellow builder. Good luck with you house build, and have a great day! For a sneak peak at the renovation take a look at this video of ours: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qXKpiJyBrsh4hLM

The Shooter's Bay, thanks for watching, and we hope you enjoyed the video. Please see our response to Abenzuoo, as you're most likely a new viewer, and probably not subscribed to the channel. We aren't a realtor showing houses. This is a video series which details a process. That process begins with searching for a house that is appropriate, purchasing one, and then renovating it. Not everything is done in 30 minutes like on HGTV. Have a great day, and thanks again for watching! For a sneak peak at the renovation take a look at this video of ours: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qXKpiJyBrsh4hLM

Thanks for watching Owen! Just in case you weren't paying attention at the beginning of the video Dave states that this is a series of videos that will detail the search, selection, and renovation of a home. We only have two videos relased of thst process so far. If you've seen the first two videos, they feature homes we've looked at while searching. The following videos will detail the renovation. If you aren't subscribed and want to see content like that we suggest you do. New videos will be coming out soon (it takes time to edit these videos.) We hope you did enjoy the videos! As they say, "It's cheeper to keep her!" It's far from economical to take the building down and start from scratch. There are a lot of high costs involved in taking a building down to the ground.
