My 2014 GLI has 200K miles. I love this car. Its been carbon cleaned and almost every part has been replaced. New suspension, new brakes/tires, entirely new cooling system, new belt, battery, alternator, and timing chain service. Thinking about some red top APR coils. My favorite upgrades: Unitronic stage 1 ECU/TCU tune Upgraded Billstein B4 shocks 034 Solid rubber motor mounts 034 Aluminum dogbone mount 034 Beefier rear sway bar Tuxmat custom front/rear floor mats

Yikes, that is a TON of stuff to have to replace on a 2014. Personally I drive a 2015 and the only part that's required replacement was the accessory belt. Always heard VW's were pricey to maintain. Jeez.

17:47 These actually come off pretty easily with heat. Just heat them pretty good and the glue will begin to come loose. After some heat, just use some pliers and try to gently rotate the mounts. If they don't seem to move, apply more heat, they should come off safely and not damage the windshield in any way. Be careful not to drop the hot mount in the interior, so it's nice to also protect the places where the hot mirror mount may fall on top of. I've worked in a place that replaced windshield and sometimes there was the need to remove and reglue those mounts and using this method, I have never seen a windshield break before. Nice video, as always!

Wow, seeing the current prices makes me glad I bought my GTI when I did. Got my 2015 SE w/ 102k miles from a dealer for $9400 ($10500 after taxes, fees, etc.) back in November of 2019. Only issues were that the front bumper had some damage, specifically the lower center grille and front lip; the exterior of the hood, bumper, and headlights had taken some peppering from debris, and the sunroof is cracked on the corners. Honestly though, those issues are hardly noticeable and haven't caused me any problems. Absolutely zero leaks on the sunroof like people are claiming, and it's been taken through some pretty heavy rainstorms. Maintenance has been fine as well, I should probably carbon clean it soon, though..

Can you guys give us some info on timing chain needs at this mileage? I got a very similar deal, 130k 2016 PP/Autobahn with ACC/DCC, basically fully loaded and i got it for 10k even. It was pretty much problem free, freeway miles, bone stock, and I did all my maintenance (dsg, plugs, coils, fluids, etc). But coming from a mk6, not sure if the timing chain is something that should be serviced/replaced, or if it's not an issue, etc.

i was seeing on the forums that the chains are really solid on these cars and they are rated for around 200k miles since they have a really robust system. you can even change em yourself if you want its time consuming but from what i saw on the DIY posts its not what id call "Hard"
