I love your new Stihl hedge trimmer. I love Stihl. I have a lot of Ak machines for my gardening business. I even got a Stihl cordless scarifier for the ak battery's. Merry Christmas.

How's the battery life on the scarifier?

Do the battery powered gear have good power compared to petrol?

The strimmer in this series is good too

If I stick with the AK system then I will need to get more AK30 batteries (currently I have one Ak20 and one Ak30). My blower uses much more juice than the hedge trimmer so at least two AK30's will be needed. Plus I may buy a Stihl lawnmower on the Ak system too! Longterm I think x2 AK20's and x2 AK30's will easily get through most days of work.🤞

Sensible purchase Adam. If someone's just starting out as a self-employed gardener it can be tempting to invest in costly professional kit from the get-go. There's no need to for many job situations. Decent mid-range kit (like your new HSA 60) is often lighter and easier to use for less demanding jobs. The same goes for mowers. No point in struggling with a heavy pro-mower in a small garden with cramped access.

That's right mate. I've paid up when I feel it necessary but as you say the mid range kit is still pretty good.

got the hsa 56 just to try on shrubs & small leaf stuff.was ok when new & razor sharp but lacks power overall.bought it solely for lightness.
@TheGreyGardener1990Ай бұрын
@thegeordiefellwalker8878 I was debating getting it but the hla 56 which I do have also lacks a bit power so decided to go with the next one up. Pleasantly surprised with this one.

@TheGreyGardener1990 the 60 has a 3000 cutting speed as well.

I own AK and AP machines, there’s zero difference in build quality and little difference in performance. The AP machines have a bit more oomph, but that’s more to do with the extra kick from the bigger (and heavier) AP batteries than anything, as a lot of machines across both systems share the exact same EC motors. Obviously some of the larger machines like backpack blowers and the bigger chainsaws are only available in the AP system, although oddly the AK system seems to have a better range of mowers 🤔

@@mattreed8024that's good to know. I'm using the AK range and wondering whether it's really worth selling all my gear to switch to the AP system!
@mattreed8024Ай бұрын
@@jonclovercottagemarketgard1143 I’d say it depends what gear you need mate. If you’re just using a strimmer, blower, hedge trimmer, small chainsaw for ordinary garden maintenance work then I wouldn’t say switching to the AP system when you already have AK gear is worth the outlay. Obviously if you need some of the bigger kit that’s only available in the AP range then that’s different. Some of the newer AK kit, like the HSA 60, FSA 80 and BGA 60 is right up there with the AP stuff though.

Stihl AP hedge trimmers have more power than AK and are equal to any petrol trimmer and have same double sided reciprocating blades as petrol equivalent.

Ive been gardening for 34 years now and i wouldnt change to battery tools if my life depended on it,engines are the one and only way to power tools and vehicles

I find certain tools do ok with battery. Personally i wouldn't want a battery mower or strimmer yet
