The tapioca pearls are supposed to be chewy, but they are an acquired taste! For anyone looking for similar kits, there's a company called MeeCha that do them, I ordered it for a friend and she's proper chuffed with it (the kits don't come with the plastic cups and the straws are optional, they also sell reusable straws too)

Grack you can make popping boba from the stuff you used from the vegan egg video! Basically you blend in 0.5g sodium alginate into 100 ml of juice, let it sit for a bit to remove bubbles, then drop it into the calcium lactate and water for a few seconds. The outside sets and the inside is still runny! It's called spherification.

Technically any plastic cup is reusable a few times lmao, I wash out my starbucks cups sometimes to put my hommmemade iced coffee in the next day, or to store things like yarn and pens, they're such sturdy cups it feels silly to toss them right away if it's not even very sticky. I made my own boba pearls from scratch recently,it's so fun, I only had it once befroe the pandemic started and it was a taro flavored, very good, but since I couldn't go out I bought some tapioca starch and made it, with just a simple milk tea of earl grey.
@marianna32534 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't really reuse cups and straws though, depending on what kind of plastic they're made of, they can start to leach chemicals and bacteria can grow in them. And since they aren't meant to be reused, the plastic isn't good enough quality for that.
@-desertpackrat4 жыл бұрын
@@marianna3253 I sterilize them and I have my own straws actually, and like I said I usually use them the next day so I can take it with me somewhere from my house and not then have to carry my travelmug around after it's empty, not over and over for years lmfao. And I also said I usually use them to store pencils and yarn. It takes a lot more than a couple reuses to make plastic leech, especially when to go cups for any food needs to be specifically food grade plastic. And bacteria is a result of people not owning proper washing implements like straw scrubbers and corner scrapers.
@-desertpackrat4 жыл бұрын
@@marianna3253 I mean every time you let a plastic water bottle touch sunlight it's leeching plastic into the water too, anything plastic will eventually effect you, we can't avoid it though, it's here now. There are bioplastics now though, and people even do make cups from them. I've even been to a few places that now use bioplastic utensils and cups that can be put into your compost.

btw when I made my own, I found out if you prepare the boba like you're about to make the tea, with syrup and everything, then pop it in the fridge for several hours or overnight, and then they become the exact same texture as like twizzlers or red vines, I was thinking I could make my own twizzlers instead of making pearls. I also mixed espresso powder into a batch of boba dough to make them coffee flavored and made a boba coffee instead of tea, it was really good and they tasted like coffee flavored twizzler candy, it blew my mind. Experimenting is so fun.
@-desertpackrat4 жыл бұрын
@@aleeshamiah936 Sorry, I think you missed a word, 4 what? Hours, or days? And do you have a source for this information? Because I've never heard such a thing yet even when I specifically looked up whether they can be stored after cooking, and I know that tapioca pudding can be shelf stable for months and that's cooked tapioca, in a dairy (dairy which spoils in one hour at room temperature) pudding, and it doesn't expire because of preservatives, so I'm fairly certain there are ways to cook tapioca and not eat it right away and preserve it. Also as I just stated, I chilled cooked tapioca pearls in the fridge for hours and even overnight, several times, nothing has happened so far and they tasted the same just with a little more chew which I don't mind and was a personal preference, so what sort of expiration are you refering to? If you only mean a structural expiration as a change of texture, most things do that and it's not an issue for me. They were still edible, and many people had instructed that they could even be frozen after cooking, with the syrup, in a ziploc bag and kept in the freezer indefinitely.

What is the texture of a twizzler? We don't have them in Britain. (Unless they're imported)

i could see how that rubber thingy could help with hair growth, because it's massaging the scalp and helping with blood flow. but i don't think it'd do much more than just using your fingers for a scalp massage. it'd probably be great for scratching your head tho, because since it's rubber, it won't damage the skin like nails do

Hey grace! Just a suggestion but i think the chewy boba is better with milk tea (thai tea, taro tea, matcha, or just add milk to regular tea). The popping ones i agree they are really good, but also it's because they go really well with fruity tea. Another thing you can try with the chewy boba is making brown sugar milk boba (no tea), by adding melted brown sugar to your milk, add ice and chewy boba, it's really good! It's also really popular in asia and here you can get it anywhere xx
