Im glad u like him because I dont. He's changed the whole dynamics of potato salad. Nowhere does it permit "Miracle Whip" or "Dijon Mustard" or not peeling ur potatoes. If he is making slop for hogs, this is okay, but since it isnt, this is TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE!

Tip for folks who don't have a sweet onion: if you soak a "regular" onion (red, white, yellow, etc) in cold water for 5 minutes after slicing that'll remove some of the enzymes that cause tanginess/bad breath.

As a white guy from nothern Germany I have to say that your recipe is quite close to "our" version of potatoe salad. We usually don't use celery (as far as I know, at least), but I can imagine it should fit in very well.....actually, every region here has it's own, slightly different way to prepare it, but RAISINS are definitely a war crime :-D Thanks for sharing and many greetings from Hamburg ;-)

@@JW-qj3se German potato salad is vinegar based and served hot, not the same thing at all. That's like saying the Chinese invented lasagna because the noodle originated from China. "American potato salad" takes inspiration from a melting pot of cultures and is a product of the mass immigration and colonization of the Americas, as is all of the mayo-based salads.

This is cookout worthy 👍🏾😊 However every Black family has variations to this recipe but he definitely has the basics down. For instance some Black families would never use Miracle Whip or stone ground mustard. Some prefer Dukes or Hellmann's mayo, and for mustard Goldens Spicy Brown Mustard. Some only use sweet relish and not dill. Every Black family is different but I applaud the fact that Tasty has decided to set the record straight regarding potato salad that will get you in at the cook out.👍🏾😊💗

it's actually really interesting about black people not eating pork. My family is from Jamaica and mostly identifies as Christian, and at least 1/2 of them don't eat pork. Part of it is biblical and then 1/2 of it is the Rastafarian culture. That being said we do eat some pork but on rare occasions when cooking Jamaican food i.e. pigs tail stew pea
