I just made the mac n cheese. I tried it in a ramekin first, but you really need to do it in a mug, so the water on the bottom sends steam up through the pasta and cooks it. It did takes a little longer than they said though, because I have a little 700 watt microwave, which is what most college dorms have. It took maybe 4 minutes (at intervals) to cook the pasta and maybe a minute to really melt the cheese. But very yummy!!
@destinysampson95287 жыл бұрын
For anyone who wants to make the microwaveable mac and chesse here are a few tips that I thought would be helpful after making it. 1. Use a glass bowl or else it will boil over learned from past mistake 2. Add about twice as much water so it cook throughly 3. Do time in 2 minitue in 30 second incerments because the pasta is not way cooked after 2 minutes and 30 seconds 4. Add seasoning or else it will be bland 5.Chesse will be thick so have a drink handy 6.Enjoy and eat right when done !

Science log: I made two of these today (the potato and the nachos) and made important discoveries: First, they work. Which is impressive, at least for me. The potato works just fine just make sure that you wash it REALLY good and after you cut it up you add a little bit of pepper before the cheese. Also, dont add a lot of sour cream especially if its cold. It melts really easy with the cheese and if you put too much the cheesy flavor is overshadowed by the sour cream. Now, the nachos. Maybe I came with unrealistic expectations??? Maybe ot was the kind of nacho chips that I used?? But those were soggy as fuck. For the love of god, DONT ADD THE PICO DE GALLO BEFORE YOU PUT THEM IN THE MICROWAVE. The freshness is lost and you’re left with lukewarm tomato and onion bits, put the chicken and the cheese only and then after its done, add the pico de gallo and the guacamole. Oh, and for the guacamole? Dont use water at all, use lime juice and salt. And get a spoon for those nachos, you’re gonna need it. Those were my discoveries, haven’t tried the other ones but these two weren’t that bad!!

I love these types of recipes as someone that’s recently moved out on their own. I never lived in a dorm but I assume you’re allowed a mini fridge/freezer and a small microwave. A little beverage cart on wheels from Ikea or something for all your canned goods and produce and you’re good to go. Also a small cutting board and a utensil holder can’t take up much room either. It’s just how you organize and store it. You just need to utilize what you can in a small space. Which is a great life skill to learn in and of itself when you’re a young adult out on your own for the first time. Most likely you’ll move into an equally small apartment years down the road that you’ll have to strategize your kitchen lay out again anyways. Just gotta be creative and resourceful and clean up after yourself. No one is gonna wanna smell your stinky dirty dishes piling up lol

However, I did not have any macaroni noodles, so I used radiatore (the curly kind). It turned out much better than I expected. However, as a warning, if you use sharp cheddar, it turns out being extremely rich and I was barely able to finish it all. I don’t know what it would be like with other cheeses though.

I live basically on the road for work. 5 months here, 3 or 4 months there all over the US. Tried some of these and yeah, not bad really. The times in the video do not really jive though. Must be some sort of super microwave in the video, idk.
@k.r.35984 жыл бұрын
I'm glad that you've included instructions for clean-up, as you haven't covered *anything* that went in that microwave. BTW white vinegar and water in a 1:1 ratio works *so* much better for the steam cleaning of a gross microwave...!

Hmm. Looks great as always, but in what dorm would you have shredded rotisserie chicken and whole potatoes? In a house I suppose, but not a dorm. A dorm is for ramen and cold pizza.

You don't need a lemon to clean your microwave. Just a bowl or mug filled with water run it for 3 minutes let stand and wipe out with paper towels and done might take longer if yours is really bad.

@robin88957 жыл бұрын
I'm late to the party, but coming to add/agree to this. You NEVER microwave bread products that long. Also, any sensible person who is making quesadillas knows you put your ingredients on half the tortilla and fold it over. That way, when you cut it, you have part of the tortilla holding your ingredients in.
@ekbalamuc7 жыл бұрын
justacrazywoman you are right, for flour tortillas is only 10 seconds. It work using corn tortillas.

It depends on the microwave you have and what you set. Mine for example has cooking modes for variety of food. Theirs seem to be a cooking microwave than a simple heating one.
