@@dymandmadison7320 (sorry for the length. The situation is kinda long so I'll sum it up). Mahsa Amini (also known as Jina Amini or Zhina Amini) is a 22 Iranian women who recently died in hospital under suspicious circumstances. Please note: there has been some issues surrounding the way that women wear their hijabs in public. Over the years, things have been a bit more lax the farther you are from Tehran (capital of Iran) but once in the capital, they are trying to enforce the "proper use" of wearing the hijab. On a recent trip to visit her family in Tehran, she was arrested (Sept 13) on the entryway by the moral police because they were able to see her hair (since it wasn't fully covered by the hijab). Her family (brother) was told she was going to a detention center, to get a briefing class and then she told be released in an hour. That didn't happen. As per accounts from witnesses, she was b.eaten (tort.ured) and ins.ulted on the way to the police station. Once there, she started to complain about a lost of vision, she fainted, had a seizure, then finally a heart attack. It took her 2 hours to get the hospital (30 mins for the ambulance to arrive and 1.5 just to get there in ambulance). This is where things really get bad. To eliminate the suspicion of police brutality, the government allegedly started forging her medical documents. Originally, the clinic/hospital where she was taken made a post on IG and said she was brain dead on arrival but they later deleted that post. They noted the bruises on her hands and feet and did scans which showed that she had skull fractures, swelling of the brain, and hemorrhaging; all of which resulted in bruises under her eyes and blood being release from her ears. That was later changed by the coroner who said she died from a preexisting condition which caused multiple organ failure. The government allegedly paid a doctor to come forward and say that she had a history of heart disease and that she had an operation to remove a tumor at 8 yrs old; none of which was true (her dad and friends all came forward to debunk that. She was healthy and she never had operation in her life). Thankfully she has a relative who is a lawyer and is representing them. The lawyer stated that reputable doctors have said that they believe she was beaten in custody. As a result of that, they are trying to create a committee to go through all of the details to accurately showcase what happened cause what was said publicly was a lie. Once people got wind of her death, 3-4 days after there were protests done on her honor (women either cut their hair or didn't wear their hijabs in solidarity for her). There were Twitter posts made, IG post made; all of which saw millions of views or retweets. People were rightfully upset because she didn't have to die. Whether she resisted arrest or not, nothing should have happen to her. 😔😔 #JusticeforMahsaAmini

Everyone being hard on Sura for the scores she gives but a lot of people scale things differently (i think it's partially cultural), My BF, for instance, would never give something 5/5 because he sees that as a completely unattainable perfection. Everyone jumping to the conclusion that she's intentionally scoring low, but maybe she just judges by a different scale

Berenjak in Soho is an amazing spot to try Iranian food, their food is incredible! They don’t have this dish in particular but I highly recommend them regardless. And regarding Zereshk polo ba morgh, even though it’s a staple Iranian meal and can be found in most restaurants, most Iranians don’t order it since our moms make it better at home 😋 so you might have a hard time getting a recommendation, I’d say look into restaurants near you and go off of the reviews.
