The fate of Yankee Jim is actually far more tragic than they get to in this video. The city was having a problem with crime at the time, and the authorities felt they needed to make an example of someone. Yankee Jim was chosen because he was conveniently in custody, and, do to him originally being from Quebec, Canada before he moved to America to try his luck prospecting, he had a very thick accent, which led to people being biassed against him. He was tried on ridiculously trumped up charges of grand larceny, which was an offense someone could be hanged for. In that time, to commit grand larceny, you needed to steal the equivalent of 1000 dollars, and there was no way on earth a little row boat was worth that much. Further more, the hanged was horrifically botched, with some reporting it took Yankee Jim upwards of 45 minutes to die. If anyone had cause to be a pissed off ghost, it's this guy.

Why do people always turn off the lights when chasing ghosts? If a ghost is going to appear, it will do so regardless of the lights being on or off.

because it's easier to catch them on camera that way and the technology ghost hunters use require darkness. when I watch the shows, the ghost is always a flash of light that moves around. you can't see that unless it's dark and you have special technology. ghosts also usually are out during the night more.

Now as we know, humans are more comfortable in light than in darkness so if a person is set in darkness, they would feel uncomfortable and more sensitive in believing that they see or hear things. This is just an if towards ghosts not being real since i haven't experienced it.

Y’all need to go to Eureka Springs in Arkansas at the hotel named Crescent hotel. It’s claimed to be one of the most haunted places. If you guys go to it I recommend room 218. There has been sightings of a man in that room that fell to his death when he was building the hotel. But there is also a lot of reports of different full body apparitions. This place was also a ward for sick cancer patients at one point. I highly recommend it. I hope y’all see this!!

I’ve been with my family while visiting Eureka Springs. We didn’t stay overnight because we are very superstitious but I bought a book with a lot of the stories and it is so interesting. The hotel is beautiful and on the balcony of one of the higher floors you can see a stature recreation of the Rio Grande statue of Jesus. We didn’t see anything but right when I walked in I felt as if I were wearing a weighted vest. It made my breathing a little uneven and made me feel very eerie. It made me and my family feel very uneasy. Overall it was very fun and I would definitely recommend going if you haven’t already. :)
